February 26, 2026

Splash Damage has acquired Gamepires, the Croatia-based studio behind the open-world survival game SCUM, from Jagex.

The acquisition sees Gamepires join the Splash Damage Group, bringing together two experienced teams with a long history of building ambitious multiplayer games.

Gamepires remains focused on SCUM and the vision that has shaped the game so far. Splash Damage is working closely with the team to support development, bringing additional experience and resources where they can have the biggest impact.

As part of this new group structure, Splash Damage Chief Financial Officer Ben Hopkinson has taken on the role of CEO of Splash Damage Group.

Together, the teams are building on the strengths already at the heart of SCUM, while continuing to support Splash Damage Group’s wider work across premium development, co-development partnerships, and new projects.

We’re excited to welcome Gamepires to Splash Damage Group, and to work with them on the future of SCUM.
