Extraction One of UK's Most Exciting Games, Says Kotaku

The new UK flavour of Kotaku is here, and, as one would, they start proceedings off in patriotic style by assembling a list of what they think are the most exciting British games in development. We're delighted to see that Extraction / Dirty Bomb (depending on where you are in the world) is part of it, joining games like Elite: Dangerous, Sir You Are Being Hunted, and Arkham Knight.

We know there hasn't been much news about the game lately, but we'll have much more to say soon. In the meantime, you can sign up for email alerts on Nexon's website for the game so you won't miss a thing when stuff starts kicking off.

Splash Damage Wears Hats, Raises Money for Charity

March was National Brain Tumor Awareness Month and it culminated in a great event called Wear a Hat Day. Never one to miss out on a chance to dress up, we promptly threw our collective headgear behind it.

We had a whole bunch of team members show up at work in their best/worst hats (see picture above for evidence) and managed to raise some money for brain tumor research in the process, with wristbands going for £1. We managed to raise £108, with Splash Damage matching everyone's contributions for a final tally of £216, all of which will be going to the charity.

You can find out more about Wear a Hat Day on the Brain Tumor Research website.

With ClanBase shutting its doors for good, their popular Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory EuroCup series has come to an end. Luckily for us and thanks to the magic of Twitch, we'll forever be able to relive the very last match, which was played between Team-Phase and Turboapinat (turbot to their friends). Better yet, veteran shoutcaster TosspoT was on hand for the event, providing play-by-play in his inimitable style.

New Arkham Origins Multiplayer PC Update Adds Voice Chat, Fixes Connection Drop Error

An update for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Origins is now live, and it contains several fixes for multiplayer. Most importantly, this update should fix most instances of the game losing connection to Steam and it adds Voice Chat too. Here's the full list:

  • Implemented Voice Chat in Multiplayer
  • Fixed a rare crash during MP game play
  • Fix for using consumables on PC
  • Fix for mouse cursor not returning on mouse movement within the front end and pause menu.
  • Fix for consumable description not updating in loadout once select has been pressed.
  • Fixed people getting dropped from Steam at the end of a round
  • Fixed crash when canceling purchase with Steam.
  • The Tab key is no longer bindable, but is hard set to control the Scoreboard command in MP.
  • Added mappings for keyboard buttons to Quickfire gadgets in both SP and MP.
  • Fixed an issue where users could not map controls to mouse buttons 4 & 5.
  • Fix Alt key state not getting reset after game loses and regains focus. This prevents user from hitting F4 and the game closing.
  • Fixed an issue on triple monitor setups where the menus may not be visible in full screen, and only the button callouts were visible.

Steam will automatically update your game, so there's nothing you need to do to get this update.

On a related note for our Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 players, we continue to work on improving multiplayer matchmaking. Stay tuned for more on that.
