Announcing Gears of War: Ultimate Edition
June 15, 2015
We’re thrilled to announce that we’re working on Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Xbox One alongside The Coalition. We’ve completely remastered the original game: There’s now support for Dolby 7.1 surround sound, modernized multiplayer running at 60 FPS on dedicated servers, skill-based matchmaking, and much more. Better yet, there’s a multiplayer beta happening on Xbox Live right now, and you’re invited! Read on for more details.
Here’s what Splash Damage’s CEO and Founder, Paul Wedgwood had to say about the announcement:
“For the past decade we’ve been fortunate enough to work on some of the world’s most famous intellectual properties including Wolfenstein, Doom, and Batman: Arkham Origins. To date we’ve got six consecutive #1 hit titles, and although this has all been absolutely incredible, nothing compares to the scope and scale of a game like Gears of War. We loved playing Gears of War when it first came out, and we’re thrilled to be part of one of Xbox’s beloved franchises.”
Multiplayer Beta
The multiplayer beta is running on Xbox Live for one week, and you can play it today. To join the beta, visit the Gears of War website, sign in using your Microsoft account here and follow the instructions. While waiting for your key, be sure to get yourself pre-acquainted in this handy series of Boot Camp videos.
