New Brink Developer Diary Explores Setting, Backstory, Narrative
Written by badman on 5 March, 2010 - 19:39 | Tagged
An all-new Brink developer diary has been released, with Lead Writer Ed 'BongoBoy' Stern exploring Brink's setting and backstory, and how they came about. The diary covers everything from the very initial inception of the Ark (where Brink is set) to how the game's final environments convey backstory information to the player. It's a very fascinating read and garnished with plenty of new concept art - head over to the Bethesda Blog to get reading.
If you missed them earlier, don't forget to check out the inaugural Brink developer diary by Game Director Paul Wedgwood and the second instalment covering art direction penned by Art Director Olivier Leonardi.

EDIT: Great read! I dig this neither side is all wrong/bad or right/good stuff.
PS: A question that comes to my mind everytime I hear about the story in Brink is how do you keep the impression of the Ark being overcrowded when you are playing 8vs8 and you don't see anybody else? Container City is the perfect example; as it is a shanty town you would expect lots of people around. Of course it makes sense gameplay wise but I'm still wondering.

(It's part of the Brink Fansite Kit)
I took the image from the diary and made a small form wallpaper. Unfortunately the resolution isn't the greatest but it's perfect for my netbook
Sorry if it's a little crappy. I'm certainly no photoshopper - I don't even have photoshop. Good ol' Paint Shop Pro 5 hahah.
Edit: Fixed the original I posted. I fixed the green background I left between their arms etc.
Nice work, Lyndon.
In regards to the crowded streets: lucky there isn't lots of civilians around otherwise they would be cannon fodder, and as such we could risk a MW2 airport controversy
We generally try to spot little issues like that and address them where we can
