New Brink Coverage: Crossplayer, Previews, and Interviews

Coverage from PAX Prime and gamescom continues, bringing us a whole new batch of previews and interviews today.

First though, let's stop at The Escapist, where multiplayer has been the theme this week. Among other things, they've put together an interesting editorial titled Crossplayer is the Future, which is all about merging single player and multiplayer. Brink is one of the games mentioned, and it's a great read on where games could be headed over the next couple of years.

Now, let's see what previews and interviews we've got for you today, shall we?

Heh. Yeah, I was disappointed that the post was a grand total of just three stories b4.

Although not Richard's fault, Machinima's interview was lame. Game Thingie finally asked some great questions would've loved more of that.

From The Nerdiest Kids article:
"There will, of course, also be standard multiplayer modes like Deathmatch and King of the Hill."

Is this accurate, or is the author just wrong? I really hope those "standard" modes aren't included.

Too bad the word "Crossplayer" is out there already. I would like to have nipped that one in the bud and instead used the word "Omniplayer" for example. Crossplay-er has too much baggage. lol

The Game Thingy interview is indeed, good! Very enjoyable.

But given time I think this will become the norm. even at a cheap, ****ty B-movie knock-off, most of those movies have more to say about the human condition that most video games.
Finally someone said it. THANK you.

I keep waiting for the WWII game that takes matters so seriously that it lets us play a Nazi. I think that would be incredible and it would be very eye-opening for people.
We can do you one better. Thanks to EA and Danger Close (a developer name infiinitely better than "Respawn Entertainment", but not as good as "Splash Damage" ), now you can play as the Taliban!

And we wanted it to be in languages from all over the world. We have a very multinational company, we have about 20 – 30 different nationalities in Splash Damage, so we just started asking some guys: hey, just give us some revolutionary phrases in your own languages. So we went through them and we realised that a lot of guys were throwing in real-life revolutionary messages from all these different groups. And we though, we are not going to do that! Because, you know, that’s taking it too far.
Every time I read about the global village nature of Splash Damage, I find myself wishing I worked there. It is good to know that whatever languages might be represented in the art or tattoos, will probably be coherent, if not the actual phrases used in various political coups all over the world.

It's out there already and means the same thing with the exception that one usage breaks gaming norms and another, cultural norms.

Multi+Single=Mingleplayer.

The word was already coined by someone from SD, it deserves the same amount of promotion as SMART.

@tokamak

The Game Thingie interview is just a portion of the interview with Richard Ham, so the rest will be published as soon as possible. I'll try not to forget to mention the link on this forum when it goes online
