Brink DLC Details and Stats Site Update

Today we've got some exciting news to share about two big Brink updates in the works.

First up, the statistics site will be going live next Tuesday for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players. PC players can look forward to it going very soon. This site, located at brinkthegame.com, will be your hub for in-depth stats, including data on matches, players and the overall progress in the weekly Battle for the Ark. Check out the screenshot above for a sneak peek and dig up that VIP code as you’ll need it to register once the stats page is live.

On top of that, the Agents of Change DLC is just on the horizon, slated for release in June. The pack will bring new maps, abilities, character customization options and weapon attachments to Brink, while also raising the level cap to 24. Here's a full list of the DLC content:

New Maps

 • Founders' Tower – The revolution finally reaches the island's iconic spire and takes the battle for the Ark to dizzying heights.
 • Labs – Venture into the depths of the Ark’s original research and development laboratories, a submerged high-tech facility so far untouched by the civil war.

New Player Abilities

 • UAV – This stealthy and lethal device allows Operatives to automatically mark nearby enemies on their radar. For more explosive fun, they can even take direct control of the UAV and detonate it near unsuspecting foes.
 • Napalm Grenade – Soldiers can use this new grenade to cover an area in a sea of deadly flames.
 • Pyro Mine – Engineers can plant these mines and leave enemies in the epicenter of a massive napalm explosion.
 • Field Regen Unit – Medics can deploy these units to increase the health regeneration of any nearby teammates.
 • Tactical Scanner – This universal ability allows players to reveal the active buffs of their opponents, allowing them to pick off enemies more strategically.

New Weapon Attachments

 • Bayonets – Gain the edge in melee combat and cause extra damage with these deadly blades.
 • Weapon Shields – Take cover from enemy fire and prevent headshot bonus damage behind riot-style shields.

New Character Outfits

 • The Sad Punk – Add a touch of Steampunk to your Resistance character.
 • The Limey – Bring order to the Ark with this outfit inspired by traditional European police lawmen.

Really nice to hear about the progress :). Cant wait for the new maps, outfits, abilities and bayonets. However the riot shields probably wont be as cool, possibly exploitable.

Interesting: - 2 new Maps - 5 new Abilities - 2 new Weapon Attachments - 2 new Outfits - Level Cap increased to 24 Let the rampant speculation begin.

great news!
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 20:59
Sounds sweet, cant wait for June :)
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:05
The Napalm abilities sound like they will have a considerable area-denial impact at choke points against tightly clustered teams. Also, it is interesting that Engineers will now have some 'choice-tension' between which abilities they can load out (with only 3 bind-able keys but 4 abilities [Turret, Regular Mine, Kevlar + Pyro Mine]... unless the Pyro Mine is an upgrade to the default Mine). Likewise, this is now true for the Operative [Caltrops, Sticky Grenade, EMP Grenade + UAV] and Soldier [Molotov, Flashbang, and Satchel Charges + Napalm Grenade]. The Medic class already arguably had choice tension [Adrenaline, Speed Boost, Metabolism Boost, Transfer Supplies, and Lazarus Grenade + Field Regen Unit].

Awesome!!!
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:08
Superfantastico.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:12
This looks great! I would wager that bayonets (like underbarrel grenade launchers) can only be attached to assault rifles. I wonder what limitations will be placed on the riot shield, because surely you cannot attach one to a pistol. I am rather hoping this is somehow limited to the heavy body type, which would give them a bit of a "boost" that many have asked for.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:13
Steampunk! Yess. I was hoping for this!
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:14
I love you Splash Damage!!!
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:15
Wow great stuff, looking forward for it - keep up the good work! :stroggbanana:
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:16
just Awesome
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:23
Sweet, sweet DLC :) I'm gonna bet that resistance will be shown to win an awful lot on the stats site though, given they mainly defend :)
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:23
Good News!... Can't wait to see the new maps. My new processor should be coming just in time for them :D
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:23
I will not be subdue to this, I was hoping the They would fix Lag and Matchmaking befor this stuff, its nice, but its not the priority, as i said before "SD will bring out cosmetics, before fixing No.1 Issues" Like putting a Pig in a nice Summer dress. Yea its cute and stuff, but Rly?
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:27
This is extremely relevant to my interests. Please though SD, please fix the matchmaking on ps3 as soon as you can! All this content is wonderful, but not if we can't find anyone to play with. :(

Dude, the people making dlc and stuff aren't the same people that are trying to ironing all the bugs out. And I think that extra content is a pretty big deal as wel. Don't worry, they'll patch in their own best interest to fix the stuff (if they don't fix bugs that destroy the game then releasing dlc is kinda pointless huh?
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:32
so... is this the dlc thats supposed to be free? sounds great, but i find it to come a bit early. i havnt played brink that massivly and its still running like crap most of the time. no time to really enjoy it. :( and already additional stuff that i also cant really enjoy? *sadface*

There's a patch out today (and there will be more in the coming days/weeks), and news for upcoming DLC. Meaning, they ARE working on game fixes. Right now. Before DLC. What else do you want?

8v8 play as advertised. Consistently. Lag free.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:37
OK, I abandon You need to endlessly complain, needlessly, for ever and ever, not listening to logic? Go for it /tired Did you actually read what I wrote? Because it is all, BUT contradictory to what you want.... But endless whine is better, ofc.

yep, pretty much until it's fixed i'm not even excited, good news though for the people who loved it, I want to be capable of playing it with other humans though.

Highlighting player wants in a thread that has dev attention is a good thing. The sooner they fix these issues the sooner Brink's community can flourish. This is good for all of us. I have a PC, but it's for music recording and not gaming; I have too much money to spend on real life adventures to be keeping up to date with PC hardware. "buy a pc" =/= fix for ps3.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:45
Sure, but when people post to explain that on top of releasing a DLC, SD is working on fixes and that it is completely compatible, just don't answer that you need fixes..... This is exactly what was written : they are working on fixes. Please, just don't do that. If there's a mute feature on this forum, you'll end up quickly on the mute list.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 21:48
Steampunk... Oh hell yes! I love you Splash Damage. So very, very much. You might not have done this just for me, but I'm going to think of it as a personal gift anyway. :D

I know, Steampunk. So jacked for this. Bayonet on the gun, holy crap. Remember that scene that was taken out that had the security guys opening a door? Lab Map! :penguin:

Ooh, ooh! Me, too! But mine is a Mac. BTW, what in the world is "steampunk"? People here seem to be excited; I guess I am merely clueless.

Because he wants the game he purchased not to lag and actually be multiplayer instead of joining laggy half bot matches? Wake up please... Also they guy that said "Buy a pc if you lag hurp durp" Really? Im with fox, I use my pc for music and mmos, prefer other genres on a console, each to there own, i for one dont believe i should be penalised because of my choice of platform...

I am totally there with you, if there was a mute button i may have already started to use it for him, he is a broken record day after day with the same crap. He has zero faith in the Devs.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:06
the console patch is coming this weekend, you can't wait a day or 2 ?
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:06
This all looks fantastic, but the competitive community urgently needs a few things.... Spec mode - first person view, ability to swap between objectives and spawn points with a button press, and better objective info displayed. Comp mod - ability to limit specific abilities, number of deployables, and tweak respawn times. Great to see this DLC coming so soon, but for this game to be successful as an eSports, what we really need is competitive features. I hope you're listening, SD!

i never said "buy a pc"...i run XBL. you think we ALL don't want it to be lag free and have epic 8v8 matches?! of COURSE we do. but to CONTINUE to complain about it....over and over and over and over and over and over and over?? it's CLEAR that they are working on the game. giving us updates and HUGE FREE DLC...and even trying to keep us updated on updates. and it's STILL not enough. it's just poor showing to INSTANTLY come out complaining the MOMENT they put out the info about this DLC.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:08
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk It is, in short, Victorian era science fiction. Old-fashioned, yet futuristic at the same time. I'm a huge fan of the genre as a whole. I've been wishing for some steampunk clothes in Brink for a long time now. And then they go and actually give me some. :D

But no reason to go around acting like the Devs dont give a crap and going on like a broken record demanding the same exact things day after day as if the Devs are just twiddling their thumbs and blowing us off or that they have absolutley no idea its even going on. I mean come on i am sure since day 1 they have been hearing about it and have been looking into it and comming up with a fix. HAVE SOME FAITH PEOPLE!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Exactly, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....etc Maybe he wants a personal letter hand written by the head developer and signed by the entire dev team....

in most games, the shield replaces the primary weapon. Kinda hope heavies and mediums get shields that scale with their size and maybe also be able to provide better cover for someone doing an objective.

Your not always annoying or bothersome but at times i just want to reach through the screen and back hand you. I just find you awfully hard headed at times. But for the most part youre not a bad guy at all and just want to fully enjoy the game with no problems, also you have alot of good constructive thoughts on the game. But the first part i mentioned is whats hurting your rep and driving some bonkers just chill out and relax, the devs got our back on this and are gonna do what they can to make it all it can be, just stay positive and have faith. If you really feel the need to say something PM one of the devs or email them, no need to spam the boards with the same thing in every thread day after day.

He has zero faith in the Devs.
Just so you guys know, my 4/5* positive review of Brink for the ps3 platform is currently 'number 1 most helpful' rated by other customers on a very popular online store. I've convinced two of my friends to buy Brink this weekend to try to help me enjoy the game due to lack of online players. I continually argue down those who pointlessly bash the game and try to convince people it's worthless. I've just not got a massive amount of faith in a dev company who took a year out to "smooth" over a game and it was still released in this state. I've been a gamer for many, many years, and I've read/heard these kinds of promises many many times and seen them sadly unfulfilled. My cynicism is founded. You think you're being more helpful than I am, but 90% of the time spent here you're trying to belittle anyone who offers an option that doesn't cast Brink in a holy light. Maturity is lacking somewhat.

How many times has a patch been released in the history of gaming that hasn't fixed things well enough to make a difference? I don't need to answer that for you.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:20
No mention of a lobby system? :(

I am /directly/ condescending you. Sorry, wasn't I clear? With posts like the above that are the text equivalent of laughing in my face, and others that seem to revel in attacking my credibility/intent, there is a /distinct/ lack of maturity. I'm sure you're just going to take this as another excuse to insult me. Don't worry, I can take it.

Hypocrisy suits your nature, Nail. Forgive me for not having absolute faith in a company who took a year out to smooth things over and still released a game in an awful state. Forgive me for the gaming industry /consistently/ proving that "promise" =/= happening. And I honestly do think that fixes for the game's actual ability to run well should be paramount over extra content. I know you understand my point of view, and I also know you're choosing to collide with me because you feel better for it somehow. Let's try to be objective: it doesn't matter how much new content we get if there isn't a community strong enough to support it. Right now, the community online on ps3 is dwindling. I know they're working on things, but /neither/ of us can predict if their efforts will be enough or in time enough to make enough difference. We can only hope.

If i had a nickel for everytime i have heard that..... no one is telling you that you cant whine, we are all just saying Please Kindly STFU or GTFO because we as forum members dont want to hear that crap day after day. Make one thread for your complaints and never again, just keep using that thread, or better yet just write a PM or email to the devs and let them know. NONE OF US GIVE A CRAP what your problems are with the game that we already know about and have also experianced!
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:34
Hell yeah! I can't wait for the DLC :stroggtapir: :stroggtapir:
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:34
why does everybody get so hateful when we talk about their precious game?
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:37
back on topic to the DLC pack and whats IN it (not bitching about what isnt)... in an alternate universe, where this first pack wasn't going to be free, i would take a good hard look at the content and ponder it awhile, think about how it would affect my game play...and ultimately decline to buy it. if after a week or so of playing...if the new content totally changed the way the game was played, i might buy it then but most likely would shelve the game. maps are great customization additions are good new weapons and abilities can be game breakers
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:52
I find that the shields can balance the heavy class...
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:56
Awesome! The riot shield sounds like it'll be excellent for some push-kart action!
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:57
Does anyone have any guesses as to how the riot shields will be implemented?? They are listed as a weapon attachment in the Blog entry.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 22:58
I'm expecting they'll be heavy exclusive
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 23:01
looking foward to it.
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 23:02
Riot shield as weapon attachment? Would that mean that it would replace iron sights?
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 23:03
Meh, too little too late. This game is falling fast. I told myself last time that I wouldn't buy another game from Splash Damage and I did. I gave them another shot, and what a big let down. There will be people probably playing this game until there are only a few servers left just like Quake Wars. I for one will not be doing so. Never buying a game from these guys again, and I know I'm not alone...
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 23:04
I guess it could replace the muzzle brakers
Posted on 27 May, 2011 - 23:05

I'd love to enjoy the good news. I'd love to be able to play Brink full stop.

Rantrantrant  Blaargh ! All i can say : get ON with it ! It looks pretty cool :D I guess a riot shield is used with a pistol/Smg :D Blocks shots :D

it sounds to me like its a gun mounted shield, like http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=64727 which to me sounds lame

I think people are maybe getting a little bored of you constantly derailing threads. Can you blame them for getting antsy?

Two things: 1. Show me one other thread where I've derailed the topic. 2. The OP merely points to the fact that DLC is being released. It doesn't say "discuss the DLC only". The fact that I won't be able to enjoy the DLC if player decline continues at this rate is extremely relevant to the topic. Nothing's been derailed. And I just spent 2 hours trying to find a game of Brink. 90% unsuccessful. I've a right to be frustrated, and more than a right to bring it up on the forums after buying SD's product. What good is it? Well, hopefully the more we bring it up the more it will spur on SD to fix things. If all they were hearing was positive feedback, then they'd not have as good an idea of the state of things.

I don't care about your sob story and I didn't ask for it. That's your problem, you feel the need to give your sob story when really no one wants to hear it. You made a thread that explained exactly why you're upset, it's more than likely been read by the devs as you're not the only one complaining. Did you feel obliged to reiterate your issues once again in this thread? You're not the worst by no means, but broken record syndrome is setting in fast.

There would be no need for it if it didn't feel like shouting into the wind. All it would take would be a slight acknowledgement, and a thread started by a PR guy seems like it might be a more likely place for it. If you don't want to read my posts, put me on ignore. Simple.

Can't wait to see more into this stat-site, it looks like what I expected and wanted it to be! :D I wonder what team is gonna hold dominion over the Ark.. :p

Why would I put you on ignore? The posts where you aren't complaining are perfectly fine and can have some great insight, the problems start when you repeat yourself over and over. Also, derailing a thread means the whole course of the thread skews and so do the replies, so having only you on ignore wouldn't stop that... and it's the derailing I have the issue with. it'd be awesome if ignore had a filtering function, so if a post contains certain specified words then it's blocked

I've said my piece about the relevance to the thread, I won't bicker any more about it. And I'm only repeating myself because I'm extremely frustrated with this game. Seems like the PC crowd are having a fine old time. *mutters*

I wouldn't go that far *cough*Ati owners*cough*, but yes it's far easier for PC players to get a game just now. If I was allowed to ask SD 1 question and was guaranteed an answer, I would ask why they didn't add match making and lobbies to the console version of the game... it's the design decision that boggles my mind the most for a P2P game.

And If I could have word that this stuff was definitely coming then I'd STFU and get on with discussing other things. *le sigh*

We can only hope.
you keep whining about the DLC in June, that has NOTHING to do with the patch console players are getting this weekend, are you really that dense, or have you finally resorted to all out trolling with 25+ posts a day whining the same thing over and over ad infinitum feh, troll btw, maybe you can't get a game because no one wants to play with you

Did that rather malicious little outburst make you feel good?
