Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Hits Double Toothpicks!

Eleven entire years of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory marks landmark in game landmarks. It's hard to believe that 1.1 decades have passed. It's hard to believe that over 19 million "down-loads" have been "down-loaded". It's easy to believe that the Old City has been captur- Old City Lo- Old City Captured!

Many are the player hours. Many are the maps and mods. Incalculable is Splash Damage's gratitude to everyone who made, and remade, and most of all played Wolf: ET.

For all the Fuel Dumps dumped, the Siwas Oasised, the Seawalls Seawalled, Würzburg Würzburged, Rails Gunned, and Gold Rushed, we can only say V-4-3

Happy Birthday, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory!

Imagine if ET was still being at least partially supported by its developers.

Through ET, the best game ever (and will never be a better one), I had the honor and the pleasure of meeting people all over the world (virtual and in person). Today I have lots of friends (I mean BROTHERS) thanks to this FABULOUS game. Thank you, Enemy Territory, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! A very big hug!

Eleven years of pure satisfaction. Countless are the hours I've played this game, and it's still counting ! Best game ever for both server admins, clans and it's members and just guests. Love it !! Agree with best game ever. Enemy Territory is pretty much what Splash Damage stands for. #happybday ET

Didnt have a clue that this was 11 years old first time I connected to a server I played goldrush.. Can remember it.. One of my friend asked to also test.. Did get a multikill in for me with the tank mounted mg42 in the slope down to barrier nbr1 :D He laughed and told the game was to simple.. I played with the mouse mouse plate at the laptop Did get double kill after double kill Then now... 4 years later (with a little break) i wonderif it was bots... LOL Well keep going Looking forward to see the newsletter in ma mailbox saying: Wolfenstein enemy territory surviving 15 years! The only pc game in the world that have survived that long! A big fat good luck et! :D

Baited me on that one. I don't really understand. Look at games like DayZ, especially the old mod. This game thrives on almost nothing else than customization. The same is and was always true for W:ET. You have missed a great part of the game if you think otherwise. Just be open, accept that there can be trash, and enjoy the one or other gold mine!!! Congratz Wolf:ET. I made a server count check sometime last week. Server count was about 1000 (2.55 and 2.6b). About 1 and a half year it was more of course, something around 2000. Perfectly normal. But still great.

gratz to my loved ET :penguin: HD remake pls
W:ET was the first multiplayer game I got hooked on. Got years of fun out of this game. I would pay for a HD remake of this game (must still be playable on linux though:penguin:) Ought to get a petition going for this.:D

Have a look at ET:Legacy and its Renderer2 then :)
Posted on 24 July, 2014 - 21:45
There is too less info for outsiders on the legacy renderer. Some compressed update would be cool on what was achieved so far.
Posted on 25 July, 2014 - 21:32
I guess there is not much to say for end users as the new renderer is still in development and we're still waiting for the first stable release of ET:L.

It baffles me how you are so close YET so far from that W:et experience . U came close with et:qw, but the only servers i liked was no vehicles, Hope u have something in the works ,that takes us further from all this nonsense MP gaming.

Apart from 11 years Playing ET, I still well remember the Time Where the RTCW Multiplayer Beach Map was in Test Phase and I thought that this Game style is Going to become a Major Hit. Some years later when I openend my RTCW Game of the Year Box, I remember that I installed the GTK radiant (think it had different Name back then) First Time and I was Graving for understanding how I can create such a Map myself. I Could Not Imagine That 11 years later we now Not only still Play the Game, we also still have a Community of excellent skilled mappers (Where I do Not count myself to) that are making awesome New Maps. I think the Key Why this Game is so successful is that the Concept (Natural storyline, no Science Fiction B.S) Rocks and that a Lot of Professional help is Mixed with creative enthusiasm of younger People to create New Maps.

You must've played a different RTCW to me. No science fiction? lol

;) at least more bottom Earth as e.g. Doom3, half-life, quakewars just Name some of them ;) If One Day People favour making ET Maps Where the Engineer can Fly and the FieldOps can Call some airstrikes from a Space Ship I will for sure delete the radiant and my ET Installation and concentrate on Playing Board Games :)

v54, ET is still v586! I play only ET ;)
