Splash Damage achieves '2015 One to Watch' from Sunday Times accreditor Best Companies
'Happiness as a business strategy' pays off for London-based games studio
London - England, April 2015 - Splash Damage, independent AAA video game developer behind six consecutive US and UK number one hits in the Batman, Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein universes, has been awarded 'One to Watch' status by prestigious Sunday Times accreditor 'Best Companies'. Splash Damage is the first ever high-end video game developer to achieve this.
"Eighteen months ago in my talk at DICE Europe I set out our goal: To create happiness as a business strategy," said Paul Wedgwood, CEO and Founder. "We are dedicated to creating the most entertaining competitive and collaborative experiences, ever. That pursuit must be as fun and rewarding for staff as it is for our fans. This accreditation from the company behind the Sunday Times Best Employer awards is proof that our strategy is working."
In 2014 Splash Damage secured its new 25,000 square feet HQ, doubled pension contributions, increased staff share options to more than 10% of the business, started to share royalties on all revenue, and improved work/life balance by increasing holiday to 33 days a year.
"Culture is not about sticking values on a lobby wall," said Marta Gaczynska, Senior HR Adviser. "We’ve grown by more than 50% in the past eighteen months, and we're working on some of the coolest high-end video games in the world. This success is because of our staff, and this award celebrates their achievement."
The Best Companies Accreditation is a highly anticipated event in the business calendar, which focuses on workplace engagement. Every organisation that reaches for Best Companies Accreditation is vigorously checked on their workplace performance, with results based purely on employee opinions on factors such as well-being, personal growth and leadership.
