SCUM: Into the Wild | August Update

August 25, 2026

The August Into the Wild update is now live, opening the way into an abandoned underground TEC1 Research Facility and expanding the hunt with mutant bears and new Master Hunter quests.

Cooking has also been expanded with new Heatless recipes, faster cooking times and a Food Effects overhaul that gives what you eat a greater role in survival.

ENTER A TEC1 RESEARCH FACILITY

Hidden beneath converted bunkers across the Island are TEC1 Research Facilities once used to contain and study mutant wildlife.

Entering one requires a Research Facility Keycard, which can be earned through the new Master Hunter quests or discovered as rare loot.

Once inside, a timed purge sequence begins. Prisoners will need to push through the Facility’s containment habitats, survive the creatures still roaming its corridors and reach its heart before time runs out.

Make it far enough and you’ll discover what TEC1 has been keeping contained.

HUNT MUTANT BEARS

The Island’s largest predator has become even more dangerous.

Mutant bears can now be found at specific locations across the Island, joining the mutant deer, boar and wolves introduced in July.

Their arrival expands the Master Hunter questline with new challenges and exclusive rewards for experienced prisoners. Complete the required hunts and you can earn the keycard needed to enter a TEC1 Research Facility.

MAKE EVERY MEAL COUNT

New Heatless Cooking recipes allow prisoners to prepare salads and sandwiches wherever they are, without needing a heat source or cooking equipment.

Cooking times have also been reduced across a range of recipes, while the wider Food Effects overhaul makes maintaining a balanced diet more important. Healthy nutrient levels can improve endurance, injury recovery and resistance to sickness, while deficiencies can have the opposite effect.

Prepared and cooked meals also take less energy to digest than most other foods, giving prisoners another reason to prepare a proper meal instead of eating its ingredients separately.

The optional Stalker Outfit Pack also launches alongside the update and is available separately. It includes a complete outfit set and a bone tomahawk.
