Day 2 of the World Cyber Games qualifiers takes place tonight to determine which Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars team will win a trip to the WCG Grand Finals 2010. Last night's action saw Team FATE come out on top followed by AmeriMiX, with Team HOT and DCM dropping out of the competition entirely.
Tonight's matches are set to be the decider, and as yesterday, you'll be able to follow the action even if you're not playing thanks to the wonders of shoutcasting and ETQW TV. Read on for the full line-up.

The grand final of the World Cyber Games 2010 is set to take place in Los Angeles at the end of the month, and with Quake Wars Online one of this year's promotional games, it'll feature in a special tournament of its own. This is set to be a multi-national affair, with six-player teams from three continents competing for several thousand dollars in prize money.
With the Asian and European player slots filled already, the organizers are now looking for a team from the United States to enter the fray. Quake Wars Online is of course heavily based on Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, and we've teamed up with the WCG to help find the team that should represent America at the Games.

With the recent release of the Tribal Wars mod for Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, we thought it would be fun to fling a few questions at the people behind the mod and pick their brains. Tribal Wars artist Alex "Arcanox" Halchuk was kind enough to answer every single last one of them and sheds light on what the mod is all about, its origins, the team behind it, their plans for the future, and much more.

EnemyTerritory.tv & TGBF.tv to Cover 12v12 Invitational Carnage This Sunday
In addition to their excellent shoutcast, EnemyTerritory·tv will be teaming up with TGBF·tv this Sunday to provide live video coverage of the =GzR= Invitational Tourney, a colossal 12 on 12 fragfest. In this particular match, the old dirty men of GeezeR Gaming (GzR) will be facing off against The Art of War (TAW), with the action set to start at 9:30pm Eastern Time. With this being 12 on 12 and campaign mode, the rules and restrictions that the community is used to seeing in the 6v6 competitive leagues will not be in effect, so prepare for a unique, no-holds barred event as the GDF and Stroggies battle for territory throughout an entire campaign.
You can tune into EnemyTerritory.tv's live shoutcast stream this Sunday at 9:30 PM EST and catch the video feed over at TGBF.tv.

In the Crosshairs: ETQW Competition Round-up With a Side of ETQWPro
I thought I'd start this blog update with a quick look at something that I've neglected to cover until now, a mod. This isn't the much vaunted Wheels of War that you will have seen around the ETQW Community Site, nor the upcoming Official Competition Mod but rather a mod that has already been heavily integrated into the Quake Wars competition scene: ETQWPro.
Made by a collection of programmers from the ETQW competition scene, ETQWPro modifies the basic game to enhance it for competition play, adding the sort of features and gameplay changes many players feel are needed for tournament play. The team behind the mod includes former PigMod creator Blaze and Ultraviolet Productions' frag movie guru Hannes.

Despite many a distraction with 'real' work I've had time to hack together another brief news round up from the world of the ETQW competition scene.
First, let's take a look at the current state of the various competitions around the globe. In Europe, the ClanBase Nations Cup XI has concluded with the Swedes (who always seem to win the various Nations Cup games!) beating the Netherlands team 4-0 on Ark and Salvage in the final. Sweden has been less fortunate in the ClanBase EuroCup XVII, though, as their leading clan, Epsilon eSports, have decided to take a hiatus from ETQW and have subsequently dropped from the event. The EuroCup is now entering the play-off stages and with the withdrawal of Epsilon, Four Kings are the clear favorites to win this cup. The other teams in the final eight are n!faculty.Tagan (DE), VAE.QW (UK), Wiechury (PL), Team Infinity (DK), DEFAULT.Team (PL), Geh aB Clan.ETQW (DE) and Inferno eSports (IT).
