After months of rumors and speculation, we're very excited to announce that Splash Damage has entered a long-term partnership with developer and publisher Bethesda Softworks for our latest project. Founded in 1986, Bethesda is the company behind blockbuster titles such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and is currently working on the highly anticipated Fallout 3.

More details on this deal can be found here in the official press release, while information about what we're working on will be provided in the coming months.

I'm glad you guys are branching out. Working with id is nice and all but it's healthy to work with other companies.

I hope they continue to use id technology though, I've always been impressed with their engines and idTech5 looks very promising.

See if you can sneak in some boobies like they had in Daggerfall.
But make it so that we don't fall through every other door we walk through.

Too bad Wils is no longer around... Though I guess over-sized text signatures are somewhat uncommon.

EDIT: Salteh is our new "sigminator".

Cool stuff Guys, hope to see some "special" work created from this union

For me it means, that id is indirectly working together with Bethesda Software because Splash Damage has risen and probably will fall with id software. Also id Software is always having a look what SD is doing, SD is until now a id subsidary. Rage might now get the rpg elements which are promised.

hmm, I always thought Splash Damage was an independent company that got hired by id, sub contractor like. Sounds more to me like Bethesda has an agreement with SD not id to collaborate on a new undisclosed project although it may be an id title. Speculation at this point is fun but still just speculation

To clarify one point 'where I can', we are indeed fully independent and not an id subsidiary as was suggested.

Keep your eyes peeled for more news in 'the coming months'
