gui text string problem

I want to add a text string for a gui I'm workin' on, but I dont seem to be able to do this without adding to, and there by altering the english.lang script found in pak000.pk4, which is bad. Doom wont read any .lang scripts with any other name so...Im sorta stuck :S.

any ideas?

Just edit the text property of the gui and type your text. You don't need to edit .lang files to change the text that appears.
