hi, maybe kat can help me, I saw that you had the fps enabled on your screen shots of your lift. I need the command to turn that on, and was wondering what is a good range of speeds, and what are the bad ones. I also believe I read this somewhere, but did not write it down at the time, is there also a command to turn off all of the info you see on the screen when playing, like health, player names, maybe weapons, so I could make some screen shots that just show the level it self.

press "~" to get into the console
/cg_drawfps 1
Draws the fps on the screen. Generally you want to keep the fps above 60, but it depends on your video card. If you have a riva TNT2 and getting 40+ fps, it's a good indication that it's fast enough, since tnt2 is pretty old now and newer cards are going to get much better fps than that. A better way to get an indication of performance is the following command.
/r_showtris 1
Have a look at the manual on how to interpret the numbers displayed, as it's too lengthy to go into here.
/cg_draw2d 0
Will turn off most of the indicators on the screen, even the fps reading, which is pretty handy. In spectator mode this is the only command you should need to take everything off the screen. In play mode you'll need to turn off more.

I took those shots of the crane in 1024x768 with everything maxed out (inc the corona distance thingy).. the average r_speeds I get are around 5k mark but it varies from 1.5k to 15k, fps averages out at about 45 (r_s's in that area are about 4500ave).
A lot of it seems to depend not on the brushwork (per say) but how many AI's you have running around - I think in the second section of the map in one of the chapels it hits about 16k because there are a number of AI's involved.
You've also then got script_movers (or any moving / rotating object) to think of as well as they tend to effect your FPS to varying degrees depending on what they are doing and how close you are to them.... couple all this together with the "dead bot society"© and you have to be quite mindful of what you're doing..!</font>
