Letters after your name on ET - What do they mean?

I've been playing for quite awhile and I've read the manual but I can't find any info or anybody that can tell me what the letters stand for. They don't seem to be tied to awards or promotions. What gives?

F = First Aid
S = Signals (For F-Ops)
H = Heavy Weapons
B = Battle Sense
L = Light Weapons
E = Engineering
C = Covert Ops
