View Full Version : A little testing with covert stuff

Thought i'd share this...

OK, so i went to a empty server and logged in with 2 games.

I found out that: 1) an enemy covert op is your "no-name" range. You point a crosshair on him and jerk it to a distant object or into the sky. The name suddenly appears and fades like it should do.

2) enemy covert op is out of your "no-name" range (you point at him and it displays the name). You point at him and jerk the crosshair to a close object (closer than the "no-name" range) The name dissappears very suddenly like it shouldn't do.

Some demos and a screenshot:

Demo Oasis (http://www.hot.ee/marti184/2003-09-01-163932-oasis.dm_82)
Demo Goldrush (http://www.hot.ee/marti184/2003-09-01-171407-goldrush.dm_82)

So the covert name display isnt so "flimsy" and weird all the time, it's just about how close you look after seeing the name.

AND this is a way to identify covert ops from the distance without the aid of command map or lvl 4 field ops WITCH is a bug IMO and should be patched along with rest of the bugs.

Other things that I found out:

Pistol does the same damage, if the silencer is on or off. 18/40/50

Unscoped rifles do all the same damage (no matter if its a covert or engi weapon) 34/54/68

...but you may have already known these damages...

The knife does 14 hp damage (exept 1 stab where i oddly got 11 damage, i dont know what was the difference)

So you should get away if you stab someone 8-10 times in the front if they arent medics (that would be about 2-2,5 seconds without any backstabs)

Backstab without assassin does 102 hp damage (1 medic joined in the game so i tested this, lucky me  )

I thought they meant it that way, but seeing your demo how it exactly works it does seem like strange behaviour.

I always used as a playing rule: if the name tag acts strange, shoot :D

-Pistol does the same damage, if the silencer is on or off. 18/40/50
Depending on the type of silencer this could be correct

-Unscoped rifles do all the same damage (no matter if its a covert or engi weapon) 34/54/68
What i s wrong with that?

-Backstab without assassin does 102 hp damage (1 medic joined in the game so i tested this
That isn't a bug.
