Note how 3rd person view helps the Desecrator driver block the GDF spawn...

It doesn't - the building in front of the MCP isn't a spawn building; nearly all the players fighting around the MCP are Strogg (you can see their green team indicators most of the time). The GDF parachute in from the side, roughly above the building you can see at the 28 seconds mark.

Well, whatever.. my point was that third-person view really helps to strafe around obstacles, gives better maneuverability and field of view. It also looks like the driver avoids running over friendly units when maneuvering.
BTW, is it even possible to run over infantry with Desecrator?
