i hope there are different player models like in W:ET where if you were field ops on allies u got to be black and so on i think it would be cool if the player could choose in his profile his preference or have it randomize between different player models.
if this has already been posted plz delete. :bump:

I don't think that's in the game right now, but I agree it would be cool to be able to choose different skin colors and even different genders.

Would indeed be very cool!
And a good way for some of the kids who spend 16 hours a day playing the game to remember that they dont really have a mustache and a german accent.
W:ET has certain mods which enable you to change the appearance of characters, which can be very funny, but unfortunately is only viewable for the person running the mod.
My very favourite is this one.

Do you mean skin?
Player models should be class specific.
So you can distinguish the different roles of the players in the first view.

I agree, different skins (or slightly different player models) would be a nice addition. Beats every engineer looking the same, or every assault having the same face. Not something that affects gameplay, but adds a little diversity and maybe adds to the players personality a bit if they can choose a gender or nationality that best suits them. But if it doesn't it won't distract from the game at all.
Sort of related question: Will QW be using per poly hit detection? Or are they going with a hitbox?

Hitbox.
Polydetection causes too much lag, and advantages some players that have smaller characters.

If you want to have unique model, play engineer. Rest assured there isn't going to be many of them; they can spend entire match crowding in assault ramp area, but none of them will actually switch. It's so much more fun becoming another sniper, or waiting outside back door and pretending axis are stupid enough to come out that way(on servers where back door can't be blown up).

It's so much more fun becoming another sniper, or waiting outside back door and pretending axis are stupid enough to come out that way(on servers where back door can't be blown up).I find it especially annoying when I join a team and it turns out I am the only engy. It happened today, had to join axis, map was fueldump, I was the only engy. Just as I joined I missed the spawn, which was ok as I was still getting myself settled. Next thing, the announcer says 'Dynamite planted'. I didnt see the screen, so I'm looking at the console to see if it was planted at the fuel dump. A million people spam 'we need an engineer' so I'm having to scroll up. A medic starts pushing me toward the dump, which I find quite fun, so I just turn in the right direction for him and let him push me. I see that some previous engy decided to build the full defences, so I dont care anyway (was probably the medic who was pushing me tbh), so I just fling a nade in to the dynamite and pretend to at least try (though I know its futile) to get to the dyno.
Back on topic:
User skins would be sooooooo cool. There could be like a selection of 5 engies to choose from, 5 medics etc etc etc. Including different uniforms (eg arctic kit on snowy maps, desert kit, jungle, urban etc etc). Now that would rock!

Thx for the info, but I guess I should have been more specific in my question (I don't know the exact terminology or technical terms).
Will the hitboxes be one large box (ie Q3/Q4)? Or more conformed to the player models or sections of the models (ie torso, head, limbs)? Using Q4 as an example, you can shoot inbetween the players legs or to the left/right of the head (but above the shoulder) and still register a hit. I'm not worried about per poly or per pixel damage/decal modeling, but I do like knowing that the hitboxes aren't these gigantic invisible things that people can hit w/o actually 'hitting' the model. If that makes sense? Not that it makes a difference really, I've planned on getting this game the day it hits since it was announced, it's just one of those little minute things I like to know how a game works ;)

i think it would be confusing to have everyone look different. i dunno, as long as the gear is the same.
but all the strogg look the same to me :)

Hey QW|Genesis,
wich server is running that anime skinmod ?? I would like to see it.
We have also different skins on our server. medics are woman for instance. So the OPS can undress them...:)
But it would be nice if you can tell me wich server is running that nice mod...

Well probably like this, just as in W:ET.

Personally I like the way ET handled it. Each class with a different model. It worked great. You get enough visual diversity and ou can look at something and immediately recognize "that's a medic, that's a covert ops, that's that idiot who keeps TKing me with the panzer."

I dont know about different models but it would be nice to have some kinds of feature so you could incorporate guild emblems or siginas. So when upload the would be patchs on all guild members and vehicles they occupy.

Isn't this a feature of "Soldner"?
I've found some info.

Yes, and why not have unlockable weapons, and like spray tags, that would be like totally 1337!
That thing is jsut useless eye candy and I don't want to have 300 image filesin my ETQW folder just because of "teh kewl logos!!11". And don't forget that you could theoretically use porn pictures or nazi emblems as logos (actually, with all the =SS= and [Wehrmacht88] Clans around I wouldn't be surprised by the latter, even if ETQW is set in the future).
