I THINK THAT THIS GAME WILL BE MORE ATTRACTIVE IF THERE WERE DIFFERENT CIVIL VEHICLES AND BE POSSIBILITY TO DRIVE THEM. LET'S IMAGINE THAT YOU CAN DRIVE NOT ONLY HUMVEE BUT ALSO SUPER HIGH SPEED SPORT CAR OR BUS OR TRUCK OR PLANE ETC. !!!!!!!!!!!
SO WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THIS?

I think you should put off capslock ;)
About more vehicles, the game is a sci fi shooter, but I'm sure some smart guys will take the engine and make a great racing mod for it!

I think it isn't a good idea to put as many vehicle-types in the game as possible.
I guess with each vehicle type you add it gets harder to balance the game.
So a light fast vehicle (like the quadbike), an APC, a tank and a helicopter seems to be OK to me.

?
Heh, his first post.
Just let him speak his mind.
This is a forum where ideas and suggestions can be discussed.
I'm with Florisjuh.
I think there will be mods that will bring new and also more vehicle-types ingame.
And there will be definetly a racing mod.
But as I've said above I don't think it's a good idea to throw all possible vehicles / vehicle types in the game.

in the bf1942 mod desert combat there were some civilian cars and forklift trucks that seem realy wow and cool to have such realism but then i kinda just made the game stupid to see your team pulling up to objectives in small forklift trucks
but form what i have read its posible to script ones own drivables so if you make a map and want forklift trucks then i think you can have them

why people think that mod should be only for racing? If it is not good to have possibility to choose among different vehicles (on which you could to get to some place)? Why the balance of game could be damaged? I agree that some people think that sci-fi shouter has to include only some kinds of army vehicles and no more. But my opinion of the perfect sci-fi action game is to held battles also in cities among peoples, with many different vehicles (sport, passanger, transport as we could see on the streets), damagebale buildings... So maybe in 5 years we will see this model of game. sorry for my English

you also have to take into acount performance and having battles is detial rich cities with loads of NPC civilians and hunderdes of drivables is gona put a little bit of a strain on your system and not to mention the networking for all thoes NPC

I like the 1/2 of his idea. Maybe a bit late now and there are 40 vehicles (i tought) so what weve seen is not everything. But the story is that the strogg invade earth while earth has problems itself: civil wars. So teh GDF isnt in top condition. I woulnt like to see busses or sport cars in this setting. But it could be nice to have an old car (really old). Which still works a little (little shield, slow driving) which could help teh GDF when need a car to escape a goliath :P. Still in other cases its not really needed as you can drop vehicles everywhere. A little detail could be nice, but not a whole city with taxis, busses, sportcars, MPVs etc etc.

I like that in Desert Combat, cause It just sucked that when you jumped out of a crashing plane and you have to walk all the walk, while you could just pick a civil vehicle to move somewhere a bit faster ^^
But I'm not sure if this will fit in ET:QW , maybe some car wrecks here and there would be better in place, since it's a sci-fi FPS.

I agree. Maybe if the GDF was more like a guerilla army (which it could be, according to their background story of a paramilitary organization emerging from the ruins of a society wasted by wars, terrorism and natural catastrophes), it would fit in, but not if the GDF are some really well equipped mercenaries like they are currently.

Dear Sirs! Have you seen terminator2 where humans run away from big machines among crashed buildings, vehicles et cetera? I'm shure that this game should be similar to that chaos!!!

Don't recall the movie anymore, but here it's the reverse.
The GDF actually run towards what you call chaos and I'd call a certain death. :D

in bf series. how come every time a car etc get shot no matter by what weapon etc it blows up and kills the crew. i think it would be far better if more often the vehicale failed to work or performace fell to a level that made it unuseful and would be abandoned. so with planes people were always jumping out before they were killed or over enemy bases. it would be better to have no parachutes and watch people try to crash land planes that were heavily damaged and going down. i hope its this way in ETQW and not the always expolding style of bf

I agree that a location based damage model would be great for vehicles. Shoot the engine and steam pours out, then vehicle cannot move forward, but doesnt blow up. Shoot the gas tank and it explodes. Shoot the tires and traction sucks and the vehicle pulls to the side. The best example might be tank fighting in Battlefield... shooting certain parts (treads, back) did more damage and added alot of depth.
I think that kind of setup would add greatly to the immersion of a game, but it would also probably slow the game down considerably. We've seen 5+ vehicles onscreen in the movies, but what if each had damaged subsystems (parts) and all had to have the information sent to all players? Also, a car with shot out tires might be abandoned in the field, and sit there, denying the team an asset (not as important for clan play, but in pubs it would make a difference).
I disagree with having to stay in a plane crashing though. Safety measures like ejecting is a staple of any military aircraft, and this is in the future when better options may be available. I think it's more realisticto let players bail.

Disabling certain parts of the vehicle based on where they are damaged is jsut the same crap as "LOL you've been shot in the leg now you have to hump!!".
I wouldn't mind if the vehicle would just stay there instead of blowing up when it is completely damaged (I guess the "shoot the tires off of jeeps" in ET:QW does just this). Of course it should disappear some time later. But no side effects from shooting at certain parts of vehicles. Besides, shooting a gas tank doesn't make it explode, that's just a Hollywood myth.

Yes. But it would slow it down on a gameplay level. And slow = not good.

Gameplay > Realism.

From what i've seen in the footage. all the vehicles seemed very arcadey (good) and not very realistic. It looked basically like a way to allow you to run for great distances without losing time or stamina.
The vehicles didn't look like some distraction, but more of a fun way to skip out on all the bunny hopping and trickjumping.

I think it would be good for aircraft to have limited numbers of parachutes so only a certain number can bail out.
The really lucky person gets a supermarket trolly with a parachute attached to it and a set of tapir's to pull it. Perhaps the tapirs could even have custard pie launchers strapped to their backs
