I just got back from E3, and I've got to say that Enemy Territories: Quake Wars was the best game by far there, especially in the shooter category. The game was very smooth, even in its developmental state and I only noticed small issues which were easily fixed. The entire dev staff I spoke to were very nice, very courteous and I thought it was really cool that they were standing around helping out when there were issues.

I had an extremely great time just talking to the devs, as well as playing the game. It has definitely fueled the fire for me wanting to play online with all of my friends. SplashDamage took a good game (Wolf:ET) and turned it into an amazing game in QW:ET and I cannot wait until the demo, and finally full retail game comes out.

One last time, it was a lot of fun just being able to chew the fat with the guys from SplashDamage, which makes me want to play the game even more. The game was amazing in its unoptimized state, and it was fun to actually play a game where you could kill someone when you aim at their heads unlike other games made by other developers.

Thanks again Matt, and Daniel specifically. It was very cool to meet both of you, as well as the other devs even though I didn't catch your names.

Lucky bastard, tell us some of your combat stories, and how the game felt gameplaywise. Anything feel overpowered or outrageous?

From the looks of things infantry look quite powerful which is great, its about time the guys on the ground got some ownage to play with.

Thanks

Oh and welcome to SD forums.

I actually don't have any videos or pictures personally, as I didn't bring a camera of any sorts. Nothing seemed overpowered from what I saw, and the infantry combat was amazing because you shot at people, and they died.

Gameplay wise, the game felt very smooth and looks like it will be a lot of fun when it's publically released. I also don't really have any combat stories as I was just checking everything out, figuring out what I liked, what I didn't like.

From the small amount of time I played, 20 minutes just isn't enough, I like the GDF a lot more than the Strogg. The only thing that threw me was the fact that you can't use both sides' vehicles, but I was told that it ended up not being as fun which I can understand. The sniper rifles have an amazing kickback, which was very fun to see.

In short, while I did get to play the game I don't feel completely comfortable describing the advantages and disadvantages to each class/race due to the fact that 20 minutes was just a snapshot of the game. Even the devs said that they felt that 20 minutes is kind of a short period of time, however it was enough that it definitely fueled the fires for everyone who was willing to wait in line.

The DVD they showed before the game was very cool, and really well done. I can only hope it's included as a special addition to a collectors edition of the game.

maybe he compared it with BF2, where you shoot a whole clip into a guy, and then he turns around and kills you with 1 shot

Of course he has, but he's not used to playing games without a "cone of luck"

I am infact comparing ET:QW to BF2. The two games I played the most of previous to this, are Battlefield 1942/Desert Combat and Battlefield 2. BF2 was the worst with their cone of fire crap, that they claim was needed to help keep everyone on the same level. Their cone of fire is so completely random it's not fun playing the game, so when I hopped onto the computers for ET:QW and I was able to aim/shoot/kill other players, I actually enjoyed my experience. I have pubbed Q3 and Q4 with friends who play(ed) Q3A daily, and were rather good at it so I'm accustomed to that type of aiming/shooting. I also did play CoD for a very short time.

The DVD I was referring to was one that was created specifically for E3 I'm assuming that just discussed what the objectives for both the Strogg and GDF were prior to participating in the game. It was very well written, however the headphones that were used for the noise cancellation made me feel like my eardrums were being sucked out of my head. There were dogtags and memory sticks given out, however there was a very limited number and I didn't find out about that until the last day, when it was entirely too late to get them. The game looks like it will be very good and I can't wait to get away from having to play BF2 ever again.

I arrived in LA at about noon PDT, and didn't get into E3 until about 1:30pm PDT. As soon as we (my cousin and I) got into E3, we tried finding my co-workers, but were unable to find the MTV/GameTrailers booth so we wasted atleast half an hour wandering the halls. After that, we just looked around the entire area as we were trying to get a lay of the land. I didn't find the Activision/ET:QW booth until the following day, and by that time they were all given out.
