When watching the video at the activision booth of Quake Wars, right when the guy gets on the quad bike, look at the guy to the left's computer screen, it shows him using Ironsights. Will this be in the final version. I'm not really sure what to think about adding ironsights to the game.

I saw it too. I thought it was for the mounted Machineguns only... I like the Quake style combat where you don't need ironsights to shoot...

I like the ironsight because it gives a great shooting feeling. It must be there for those who like to use it sometimes.

i agree but people who like to use it shouldn't have an advantage over people who dont.

I think it will be just about as useful as crouching in W:ET. This means only at loong distances/when you suprise enemy from behind.

Thats good, I like the fast paced gameplay. Stop walking and put up the ironsights on a face off with a strog at medium/close rage should = death for the ironsighter.

It was said that there were machineguns with some sort of scope, was this one?

If the ironsights are just a +zoom function with image overlay, I don't worry. But I wouldn't like ironsights that slow you down and improve your accuracy, as this slows gameplay down very much... We end up with a lot of people camping with ironsights up.

Much to "realistic" for me :)

if the game does play similar to the current ET then i would expect ironsights to only be of use when shooting at ranges targets since faster moving around when in close combat would be preferable and by looking at the speed in the videos then that seems the case pretty much every kill in that is without ironsights and some are at fiar range

We only saw one gun with that capability so its hard to say.

If the developers don't specifically program ironsights to be more accurate then how is it more useful than a regular crosshair?

It can be a +zoom function like in Q3. What you aim at gets zoomed at, and your mouse sensivity is lowered, so you can aim better on distances.

As you can see, the weapon they use ironsights with, is a heavy machine gun. Like MG42 from Wolf, and didn't that have a special zoomed in view too ?
