Mapscripts - Allowed to edit them?

I just want to know if I can edit the mapscripts on the regular maps (fueldump,goldrush.oasis,railgun,etc..) I am wanting to change the colors and such of the wm_announce

Just thought I'd ask,respect to the map makers

Yeah there are loads of script mads out there for the original 6...I don't think SD would have a problem...then again... :P
