A while back I spoke to someone called "some guy i know" and asked him if I could use his list of links for textures and resources. Here is the list with updated information from other users on this forum. If you find any of the links below not working please post and let me know and I will remove them. If you can think of anymore links which should be added to this list then please post in this thread.

Please Note: Always check the copyright information before using other people's textures. I will tidy this thread up every now and then and merge all posts into one.

Images of Ruins (among many others):
A website about Frankfurt am Main (http://www.frankfurt1933-1945.de/) during WWII. All text is in German, but just click around. Under "Topographie" on the left you find maps of the city with clickable links to related articles. Under "Krieg und Zerstörung" (War and Destruction) at the top you find lots of photos. You can zoom into most images twice - first by clicking on an image, second by clicking "Bild nochmals vergrößern" (Zoom in again). Click again to go back. At the bottom of most pages you will find a link called "Weitere Beiträge zu verwandten Themen" - click this to see a list of related articles for the current topic.

Pictures and stats of german tanks and other vehicles:
Panzer Waffe 1939 - 1945 (http://wilk.wpk.p.lodz.pl/~whatfor/SdKfz.htm). A website with a list of all German tanks, esp. with their Sd.Kfz. numbers (which helps searching further informations). Additionally photos for nearly all vehicles. The only drawback (for non-Polish speakers) is that texts are in Polish.

3D-Models of vehicles:
3D-Models (http://gunpoint-3d.com/) of tanks, s.p.-guns, airplanes and many other. Some are for free. Read (and observe) the License agreement (http://gunpoint-3d.com/license.php?subj=model-E10.html&next=downloads.php;id=E10).

Mapping ideas:
Articles about the Battle of the Bulge (http://users.skynet.be/bulgecriba/battlebul.htm) (or in German the "Ardennenoffensive") . A good source for mapping ideas, e.g. http://users.skynet.be/bulgecriba/smith.htm.

Sounds, photos, videos and other art:
LeMO (http://www.dhm.de/lemo/home.html) (Lebendiges virtuelles Museum Online - animated virtual museum online). Website about German history from 1900 - 2000. All text in German. To get directly to the image/audio/video galleries use the Suche (http://www.dhm.de/lemo/suche/index.html) (search) function. Most entries are listed with a date/year, so it should be easy to find WWII related stuff.

Songs from WWII:
Songs from WWII (http://ingeb.org/WWII.html) (including German folk songs, marshes etc.). Most with lyrics and a .mp3. Some with .midi files. I guess most will know the song "Ob's stürmt oder schneit" (http://ingeb.org/Lieder/obssturm.html) (das Panzerlied, the tank song) from the movie "Battle of the Bulge". Remember that some songs might be banned by law in Germany (e.g. the Horst Wessel Lied).

onwar.com (www.onwar.com) has alot usefullstuff, e.g.:
Chronological day by day index of WWII (http://www.onwar.com/chrono/index.htm)
Maps from WWII (http://www.onwar.com/maps/wwii/index.htm)
Tanks of WWII (http://www.onwar.com/tanks/) (some with 4-view drawings: front, back, top and side)

PS: The http://www.skalman.nu/ page has moved to http://www.axishistory.com/

A note on appendix C - the common textures. The clipmissile texture has the description: "Based on the standard clip brush. Blocks all projectiles."

But the texture doesn't clip guns and flamerthrowers. You might wan't to add that. If people want to block all weapons its clipweap*

I found a (russian?) site (http://3dviewport.com) with some blueprints (http://3dviewport.com/index.php?actions=blueprints), textures (http://3dviewport.com/index.php?actions=textures) and models (http://3dviewport.com/index.php?actions=models). I don't know if they're free, maybe someone is able to read and translate the terms.

Here's an amazing site with information about nearly all WW2 vehicles :
www.wwiivehicles.com
While the site may be less helpful with architecture, it should be a boon to mappers creating vehicle prefabs for use in their maps.

Click my signature's link for 7 or more .maps and .pk3s for tutorials. I created them as normal maps for people to learn in-game while including the .maps for reference on building the seen attributes.
Readme.txt files explain in detail in most of the packages.

First a big thanks to all those who have answered other people's questions, and in turn answering mine as I search these forums. I 've been working for a little over a month on my map name: addiction, and am ready for my clan to start trying out its multiplayer dynamics. I now have a script file tat is only partially working, i.e. you pick up all three of the objectives and return them, but I don't have it set up that the map ends when all three objectives are returned. I was hoping if I posted my script one of you experts will quickly see what lines I need to enter into my script to make it a first playable. I don't really understand the scripting very easliy so please be simple and kind. Here is waht I have so far

HoneyBear, it might be better to start a thread of your own asking for help.

My website, it doesn't look like much but it's user oriented so people can submit tutorials. Interactive? Fun! (Bitch to code though)

Also covers Quake 3, Quake 1, Modelling and Flash animation, random, yes.

just clicked on mario's link.... i'd advise against it. i got a HUUUUUGE spyware overdose. my pc went nuts, alarms coming up about all kinds. then i had those lovely "your computer is infected by spyware" solutions from some random company appearing on your task bar.

spybot and ad aware are having a field day right now.

My site looks crap in IE, those basterds don't want to support normal coding standards, if the page looks crap then I simply say this, get a better god damned browser!

What is the maximum dimensional map size in W:ET?

wezelkrozum
5th April 2008, 14:38
zoom out in gtkradiant and you will see it.

N0zer0
5th April 2008, 15:35
Can I find the answere in documentations? Where can I zoom out. I've never made ET map but I think even the biggest sniper maps are small. This is the reason why I want to know maximum dimensions. If it is possible I want to make the theoretical biggest map.

Ziggy
5th April 2008, 15:56
by zooming out, it means, scrolling with your mouse wheel over the 2d grid area. Then looking at the numbers on the left and top edges. But just for your future reference, the largest map possible it 65536x65536.

{SSF}Sage
5th April 2008, 16:27
It's hard to tell, cos you are morelikely gonna hit many different limits. So you would need to push up many things. 32768 is the maximun brush count. But for the size, look for example minas thirit or some there's some very huge maps around there. But I have to warn you, making maps sized like those with detail and stuff can take years. Oh and all sniper maps I've seen (maybe a dozen) are actually quite small.

insert and delete is better than mouse wheel. and why to pollute this thread with that question, zero :s start new topic.

NoZero, for future reference, generally speaking your don't post off topic in a sticky unless it has to do with the subject of the sticky. :D
