Best of Luck.
which is in case/context of unreleased/finished[yet] games slightly... too early 2 do it.
nothing personal/no offense.
I voted Brink for One to Watch because this genuinely IS my most anticipated title of 2010, the Year of the Game. Remember, One to Watch is by definition, something that hasn't been released/finished yet.
I voted Splash Damage for Best UK Developer because, regardless of how the software turns out, and I sincerely doubt it will be a disaster:
1) SD is available to their customer/fans like no other developer I know
2) every time I think I have a concern about the game - and while I am not a skilled gamer, I am definitely an experienced gamer - they assure me that either they have already addressed the area of my concern, or have at least debated it, and have solid reasons for going in a direction other than I would have chosen
3) their pedigree - their staff roster reads like a who's who in the gaming industry.
4) they actually have a Community Relations Manager - there are only a handful of AAA developers that have one. I can only think of 2, Bungie and the now almost gone Infinity Ward (lol)
5) because of 1-4 I know that SD actually play games themselves, they love games, they care about their fans, and they care about their game.
I think that the only way Brink will be a disaster is if Bethesda forces Splash Damage to release the game before they are ready to. Yet, even this doesn't worry me too much because of the reasons listed above. I know that SD will be putting in huge hours to patch out the bugs and exploits. In the meantime, because of the freshness of experience, I will be much more tolerant of problems for the first couple of months than I would be with a more traditional fps. Having said that, this by no means, is a license to release broken sh!t. Do your best, Splash Damage!
