Tribal Wars Mod Released for Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars

Arguably one of the most anticipated mods for Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, Tribal Wars is now finished and available for download! Inspired by some of the elements that made Starsiege: Tribes a gaming classic, Tribal Wars adds a CTF gametype along with jetpacks, several new weapons, and new maps.

You can grab Tribal Wars from one of the following locations:

Windows version:

Linux version:

Once you've grabbed the release, don't forget to stop by the Tribal Wars forums. There's also a dedicated IRC channel at #twars on irc.quakenet.org.

Anthony, the TAW server hasn't been updated. Just make sure you clear out your mod folder and reinstall. You did have the beta files which won't version correctly with any servers marked as (v1.0)

where's linux?
Posted on 17 March, 2010 - 01:56
In the post he says "Windows only installers", i believe there is no Linux port.

There is a linux package, just not posted here :P
Arcanox : Already done what you are suggesting before posting here, looks like server isn't using correct si_pure 1/0.

Linux---> http://www.bravehardt.com/Quake_Wars/twars/

It's just a zip file, extract to game folder and add +set fs_game twars to a launch item. Don't use this link if you're using Windows, just use one of the mirrors in the main post.

Big thanks to Arcanox! Awesome mod! We are already putting together a tribes competition team. I am thinking the best team size for this will be 7 v 7.

We are honored to host servers for this in the NA and EU. They will soon be fully auto-download and up to date.

Also, to show our support for this mod and encourage more tribes mod servers, anyone who wants to host a server can reference our FTP links for the mod config files to autodownload off your server.

We will probably put together an open Tribes tournament for any groups or teams that want to play. Watch for threads on this.

never played this before but im looking forward to checking this mod out.
Another mod for QW, who says its dead.<- retorical.

edit*

just tried it. how do i jump more than a few feet. i tried shooting at the ground which gave me some height but also mamed me.

A tutorial for nubs like me would be useful and help draw more players in otherwise we just get frustrated and not bother.

sprint is jetpack, which seems to be unbound by default.

Look for bumps and aim for them. When going downhill, hold jump to skii and when coming to a hill, use jetpack to gain enough momentum to go over it, but not too much so you overshoot the downhill part.

You lose momentum if you try move when jumping and boosting from when standing still, jump, press boost, wait till you reached way past the height you wish to be at then move forward if for example your wanting to get onto a ledge. for normal play you got to take advantage of the various slopes found on the terrain and try find a course that offers plenty opportunity for skiing in order to build up speed, similar to the Icarus but less forgiving.

I did suggest a 'noob' mode for begginers at one point where its more like etqw icarus skiing and no fall damage for those not familiar with tribes to make the mod more accessible to established etqw players but I guess it be alot of effort getting two control schemes added and a server mode for each one.

Aaaaah! got it. hold down jump on the down slope and boost on the up slope.
ok im fully qualified. do i get a certificate. oh no that would be a stat.

Learning skills like this is much more rewarding than a shiny medal on a stat page you get for doing nothing of value...

Yes, as Punkoma already mentioned, I just put up a server, at awesome-dudes.de:27736 (with autodownload).
Port might change or server go away, not sure yet, it's preliminary for testing purposes.

We just played about half an hour, and we already like this mod.
Is there a way to switch off the falling damage?

I also mirrored the files:
Windows Installer: http://files.awesome-dudes.de/etqw/mods/twars_setup.exe
Linux Client: http://files.awesome-dudes.de/etqw/mods/twars_v1.0.zip

I downloaded it from the awesome dudes server and that worked without any problems. I'll practice my skying a bit later today and I will try to find some games in the coming days.
