Next Game Stuff - And It's Mostly Correct!

videogaming247 managed to corner our landing party out at GDC in San Francisco and got a few bits of information out of them regarding our next game. A few interesting bits and pieces in there, including the fact that it's a completely original IP coming to PC and consoles.

There's one passage that's worth clarifying, just so there's no misunderstanding. Nerve Software are currently handling the Xbox 360 version of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars (and they're doing a fine job). However for our next title we're handling PC and console development here at the upside down Splash Damage space station.

While we're talking about GDC, don't forget that Paul's GDC talk is tomorrow - he'll be covering Splash Damage's first 5 years from a business standpoint and share the lessons we've learned so far. We'll keep an eye out for coverage of that and plug it here on the site.

I'm willing to bet that this means it will be idTech 5 if it's going to be both PC and console, seeing as how idTech 5 is supposed to be a multiplatform engine. Does your space station come fully loaded? Turbocharged, chrome and iPod dock on the deck?

Probably more akin to something out of Fireball XL5 to be honest.

Though they are looking for people fammiliar with the doom 3 engine, but that might not be that significant seeing idTech5 will most likely be build on the code base of the doom 3 engine.

gief beta!\
You forgot to add "plz", which cannot to be neglected should you want any effect. Also, huzzah for a new IP. Cheers to that! Now where is the "Cheers" smiley when you need it? I guess this'll have to do then:

didn't forget coz it's a nerdy demand and no asking for it :D

In that case, you can never do wrong with "hello SD, gief beta nowz!!!11!!!". All serious demands should have at least one spelling error and annoying markup to make them stand out. Back to topic: those descriptions are as fuzzy and fluffy as it can be. Great for marketing, but it can just go anywhere. :-)

At least give me a name of the game so I can walk around and buy out domains... ...and yea, gief alpha/beta/techdemo/screens/artwork/videos/etc.!

what what what! Totally awesome pies and tapirs, guys.

=O Its a deep new IP for PC and console... could it be more general? With all this tutorial stuff, and QW comparing, I'm guessing another multiplayer focused game! As long as it has tapirs ;)

BTW, what's this about Steam? Does this mean I won't be able to purchase the next game for PC in box form?

I doubt so, otherwise they would not need a publisher right, or do you think they will work for valve? :\

Well, valve/steam are a "publisher". I'm still hoping for it to be available in box form, I like my collection of video game boxes. Better yet, a special edition with lots of cool swag. I wouldn't care if the steam version was cheaper, I'd still get the box.
