New Brink Hands-on Coverage Vaults, Slides, Shoots

Brink coverage from QuakeCon and gamescom continues to hit the internet in every possible way, and we've got the very latest batch for you right here.

The Brink Parkour Tour's Daniel Ilabaca and his gang were in Cologne on Friday to visit Bethesda's gamescom booth and to hang out with the local Parkour community. It all culminated in an epic traceurs vs Splash Damage match in - you guessed it - Brink, which had the Parkour folks walking away victorious after a closely fought battle. You can read all about Daniel's day in Cologne on the Parkour Tour blog.

We've also had a whole bunch of new previews and interviews coming out of both events. Led by Maximum PC's Six Reasons Why Brink May Be Your Next Multiplayer Addiction, here they are deliciously bite-sized:

Previews & Impressions

Interviews

I don't really see the cel shading in BRINK? There is no weapon customisation in borderlands? Just a wide variety of weapons?
I'm guessing they just through those names in there because lot's of people recognize them...

Ironically Xboxic's preview pulls my interest the most, although it's about the XBOX (I am pc fanboi)
They say that the gameplay is like W:ET, well they don't say that literally, but by reading what they said, it sounds alot like it.
But it does sound like their doubtful that BRINK wil break through the grip of COD and HALO on xbox.

I'm hoping that you finally give people a mouse/kb hands-on soon, that would make a the read a bit more interesting.
Or why not do a combination? Mostly xbox controllers, but one of two mouse keyboards, or just have 2 of each lol PS3, xbox and pc then everybody can get a real taste of the game.

They definitely did some trickery with the shading, but I think it's generally the stylised, colourful feel of the game that fools people into thinking it's cell-shaded.

Lot of french media are a bit skeptical about the SMART !

low animations transform you as an easy target ! so nobody use it !
and bot at the maximum skill were really easy to kill .....
so they say that the smart is like a gadget !

and nervous but ..... slow game ...
they compare to "BFBC2" !! :/

bit afraid after the NoFrag preview and the one of Jeuvideo24 say a bit the same.
So gonna wait for some news hopfully some good news !!!

Do you still make games for pc players ? or console gonna kill all this ?
Dont forget the PC players !! please !!!

I believe in you potential ;)

I think you'll find the PC Games Hardware write-up quite interesting.

I watched the video on the PC Games Hardware site and I can't wait.

I only hope that by the time it's released next year, there will be a bit more variety in the sound bank. Hearing the same loud footsteps for everyone around you was a bit jarring and the equipment/clothing sounds were a bit much too.

Other than those little things, which I'm sure will be worked out, I'm dying to get a chance to play. <3 SD

"After a few fatalities, we catch us but then the mouse of the presentation PCs and already things look different: direct, crisp handling, precise aiming and glorious results feedback - the guys at Splash Damage to know just how to do it" taken from PC Games Hardware ! Google translation ....

sounds really good ;)

Seems you have some issues, did you hang around at all to see if others were having the same problem or did you notice other players using the SMART button? Joe999 pointed out in another thread the issues regarding low quality textures. Btw badman may be able to correct the spelling of your name

Yes sorry, but i was really excited to get my hands-on Brink for the first time. And i did like playing it but some things just didn't feel right. I didn't notice anyone else climbing on or over any obstacles but maybe this was because i was to busy playing. I'm not saying it doesn't work at all only i couldn't get it to work for me somehow...

While we where playing the person that was there to help us out with the controls said: "Wow you are really good did you play the game before???"...

(btw my name isnt really important, i just wanted to share my experience with the nice people of splash damage)

I think if you're not really used to playing a game that let's you do all the movement stuff you just forget about it in the heat of the battle. At least that's what I think will happen to me at first.

/me thinks that SMART and parkour will be under used due to lack of availability in other games

That's where the true skill starts to shine. Players who are either capable of handling complex actions like that while being an asset at the same time or even just players that know how to prioritise their actions will have a true edge.
