Hot on the heels of the new trailer, the official Brink website has been relaunched with plenty of new and exciting content.

Among many other things, the site showcases the possibilities offered by Brink's character customisation system, offers details on the two factions in the game, lets you explore the Ark island, and serves up a comprehensive assortment of screenshots, concept art, and videos.

I love it all, great job on the marketing and congratulate your web designer on a job well done.

Only thing I'm having trouble with is loading the videos under the Ark section, it's taking a really long time for them to load up.

Says it all so I'll just quote your post. It's not just the Ark video though. Everything seems to be a bit slow (eg. the videos streaming with <40kb/s).

Too badman.

Is my guess about 15 to 16 maps on release date correct.?
when i see the map overview and compare scales, and area`s.
or is that yet unconfirmed?

ps:
Molotov cocktail.. i have heard it wouldn`t be in the game.

I love the new site. It is getting slammed right now, but I look forward to diggin' in when everyone else has gone to bed. ;)

The character customization may be more important in game sales than SMART. Again, I am ready to buy this game based on the art alone. Well done, SD! Well done!

Can you actually do any of that stuff in the cinematic?? (Such as when that dude on the mask runs on top of that cinderblock, does a 180 and slides on his back while shooting?) That seems a little improbable, but if that's in-game I would worship the ground you guys(and gals) walk on.

I was looking at this a couple hours ago, I don't remember how I got to viewing it before this thread.

The movement in this game is killer for me, was watching the video. It reminded me of that concrete jungle monkey guy. It also reminded me of the Starcraft 1 rust/desert tile set for some reason.

Have a look at the movement video on the page! You can slide and shoot so I would guess that you can slide and just shoot behind you. It seems like you are just not sliding very far, though.

some nice stuff there. i really like the character costumization overview. didnt expect that there are that many possibilities to costumize your character.

but again i notice the problem that the two factions almost look alike. the colors at least. add some more blue for the police and some more orange for the resistance and you'll be just fine (i know its easy to say). dont let this be your game braker. its already mentioned several times (since the ingame trailers) that its hard to differentiate the two factions.

gonna dig a bit deeper into the site today. hadnt the patience to load the new video about the smart system yesterday, it loaded awfully slow.

Yup, bear in mind, the assets for this website were put together a few months ago, so take the colour choices shown on that page as 'potentials'. we're still trying to find the right balance between 'giving players a lot of freedom to define their look' and 'ensuring you know who the enemy is'.

Also the HUD will help with that. If the crosshairs lay over the object and it is a team mate their information will show up on the HUD, if it is an enemy none of this will show - that should be a pretty good indication.

but a tad late. If I see 2 people on my screen I don't want to aim at both before I know which one to shoot.

teammates are usually marked with some sort of indicator, regardless if you're aiming at them or not, so if a TM and enemy were next to each other, TM would have his name, or icon or whatever over his head, and enemy would have nothing.
