Win a Signed Brink Mural to Celebrate Brink's Birthday

We've got a winner!

Congratulations to rippeon for being at the pointy end of our giveaway. We hope you enjoy the mural!

Thanks to everyone who entered and stay tuned for more giveaways of all shapes and sizes in the future.

Original Post: Hurray! Brink, Splash Damage's first-ever multi-platform game was released in the US a year ago today, kicking off the hyperrealistic battle between the Resistance and Security. On this, Brink's first anniversary, we'd like to extend a huge Thank You to everyone who's fought to free and/or escape the Ark during these past 12 months.

To celebrate the occasion, we're signing one of the big huge Brink murals right now to give away right here on the site. For a chance to win it, just reply to this blog entry with the choice you made upon first launching the game (Save the Ark / Escape the Ark) and why you went for that one over the other.

Be sure to post your choice by 11:59 PM GMT on Sunday (13 May), and we'll randomly select a lucky winner from all of the entries the following Monday. More pictures of the mural below. Good luck!

I chose to save the Ark on my first playthrough. Taking a storyline approach; all that effort, research, design, construction to create the Ark to try and sustain the lives that it held... why let it be destroyed by malcontents? From an aesthetic point of view; The Security designs are fantastic and I was drawn to them moreso than the Resistance. Charging down a vent with an SMG desperately trying to get to a missile launch console that threatens the Founders Tower... adrenaline buzz of the moment.

I chose to Save the Ark, because I am a military veteran and I wanted to try and keep some order. Loved both sides of the story on the Ark. Great job. I am part of the RiF clan. I'd love to have this mural, but honestly, it should go to Ematic on Xbox Live. http://live.xbox.com/en-US/Profile?gamertag=Ema7ic That crazy French bastard still plays the game almost all the time. He loves it. He *IS* Brink's #1 fan worldwide. DarkSolarcrest and I played a few campaign missions last week and it was still a blast. I wish Bethesda didn't screw you guys, because this game needed just a few more gameplay and online tweaks plus some more DLC maps and it'd be the best FPS on the market. I wish you guys the best of luck on your next FPS game.

I chose to Escape the Ark because I felt that is what I would actually want to do if I was in that situation.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:05
For the first time ever played i chose Save the Ark. I thought it would only make sense getting to know the Ark beforehand and find the meanings and live the circumstances that would justify that there'd be ever a reason to escape it at all, being it's one of mankind's last suitable places to live left on earth.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:06
I chose to escape the Ark. This was because me and a friend promised to play through the opposite campaigns first, just for ****s and giggles. It'd be an honour to win such a beautiful piece of art signed by such wonderful people.

[QUOTE=badman;399395]A new blog entry has been added: y choosed to Save the Ark because of the awesome suits they had and because the resistance guys are poor and they smell bad. I hope for a brink 2 y really loved the art style of the game and the cool character design please make another oneeeeeeeeeee
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:12
The attitude behind escaping the ark is the same attitude that made the ark a necessity. Short-therm thinking and selfish desires render you incapable to see it for more than just a floating piece of concrete to cling on to. It's much more than that, it's a roaming symbol of foresight, unison and innovation. In the end it's all that makes humanity really worthwhile and is therefore worth defending.
we'll randomly select a lucky winner from all of the entries

I love you guys from the heart of my bottom.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:16
I chose to save the Ark first. and Escaped on my 2nd play through.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:16
I chose to save the Ark because it was a work of Art and had a compelling pitch as to what life should have been like on it.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:17
I chose Save The Ark, because I like being part of the "good guys". :)
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:17
Resistance. Power to the people.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:17

I was a fan of the Resistance before the game launched and still am, so without hesitation, I chose "Escape the Ark." Why you ask? Because the the fundamental point or ideology that the Resistance seems to be making, is that fighting will get us nowhere. I know it is an FPS, and the game is based around 2 sides fighting, but I am more referring to the resources and how to best use them. Having a "survival of the fittest" mindset - hording resources and looking out for yourself - in a dire situation like the one taking place on the Ark/planet will get you nowhere, and is doing little more than to postpone the inevitable - which is failure. In an event such as this, cooperation and group effort is the only way survival/success is going to occur. The Resistance seem to understand this, and even after giving the Security multiple opportunists to "see the light," they (Security) continue to be ignorant to the fact. The Resistance didn't want it to come to this - Security brought it on themselves. In addition to the above, there are also other factors that made me side with Resistance - the fact that they believe in a more balanced or Socialist (ooo, socialism) approach to how things operate, and how they seem to actually be fighting for something....noble, (for lack of better word,) whereas the Security/Founders/Natives favor a system that relies more on social stratification, or an 'Us vs Them' mentality, and simply want to preserve the cushioned way of life they have become accustomed to, even if it means killing others. So in a (somewhat) brief post, this is why I chose to Escape the Ark. Choosing to Save the Ark seems futile, since under the practices of the Founders, their will eventually be nothing left to save.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:17
I chose to Escape The Ark. Once I succeeded, I made another character and went with Save The Ark. Loved how the story twisted in different ways depending on which choice was made, seeing the same conflict and levels told in different perspectives.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:18
I started off going with Save The Ark because I felt like the Security were the underdogs of the situation. They're hard working guys just going to work everyday having to deal with the Resistance causing trouble. I loaded up the game just last weekend and Security is still my favorite side to play. And then we found out it was all just a big misunderstanding on both parties (once you've played through both campaigns). On a side note: I loved and still do love this game. I'd love to see more from it in the future. Or maybe you could give me the rights and I could make an indie game in the Brink universe :P
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:18
I chose to escape the Ark. Why? Why not? Rebellion is fun >:D
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:18
save the ark because its an awesome place. with some repairs it could be full time living environment. PS: the game is awesommmmmme
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:19
:D I have, and will always be, the rebel-scum underdog who fights the establishment. The resistance was bad ass, so of course I joined them first. :stroggtapir: Um. Yeah. Character art looked more interesting. Liked the aesthetic a lot more. And I'd just like to take this time to say that I don't always play Brink, but every time I do I'm reminded how fun and awesome of a game it really is. You guys at SD definitely get both of my thumbs on on this one.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:19
Escape the Ark, the rebels were such a better choice than the security, bitch'in apparel and looks.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:20
Escape the Ark, resistance had cooler looking gear in my opinion.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:20
I chose to Save the Ark. Nothing beats a machine pistol with a bayonet.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:20
I escaped the ark :D...I friggin loved this game...too bad the multiplayer on the ps3 is pretty much dead :(
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:20
Escape the Ark, because I felt like it was the right thing to do... Communism ftw?
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:21
I chose to save the ark. I much preferred the costumes available to the coppers, particularly the Bug. It's all about the Bug! Also, SMGs all the way! :stroggbanana:
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:21
Started out trying to escape the Ark first. Aside from some of the clothes looking cooler, I didn't really like the idea of staying on a floating city.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:21
I chose to Escape the Ark, because I rarely squander an opportunity to stick it to the man :)
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:21
Saved the ark it seemed like the better option in my opinion but second time around i escaped it.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:22
Upon first launching Brink I chose to "Escape the Ark" because a part of me feels that the world is becoming a growing police state which seeks to control everyone. I felt (or imagined) that the security forces were trying to constrict the non-invited people. I was time to break free!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:22
I chose to escape the Ark since I felt that you can have more variation in the character design with Resistance. + as a listener of rap, I was already loving some of the looks of the Resistance forces and I made my character look like a hip hop head. Other than that, the first impression of the Resistance is what made me choose them. I had a view of them just asking for equal rights (Ark's resources, water?), and they wanted to leave if I'm right?
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:22
I escaped the Ark cos the should have the right to be free and the people just look better :D
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:22
I chose save the ark. I have always been fond of being able to play both good guys and bad guys in video games. But fit the most part I enjoy paying the bad guy the most so I play the good side first so I don't have to feel guilty wondering if I made the right choice.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:23
I chose Save the Ark, because I felt like that was the right thing to do.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:23
I chose Save the Ark. I planned to do both, just started here.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:23
I want this so flipping bad this is so sick i hope they make a brink 2 i really hope they do sice they found out how to community responded that they could fix all the issues it was just a good idea please let me win i want this for my bedroom
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:23
I choose to save an Ark. I did it because I thought it would be bad idea to escape from the last stand of civilization, even if it's not the best place to live. And audio logs showed that I choose right :)
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:23
escape the arc, i prefer the resistance in this awesome game
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:24
I chose to Save the Ark. Security all the way! The 'staches rule.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:24
I chose to save the Ark. In order to preserve what is good about this utopia, I had to choose what was best for the whole, rather than pleasing a few.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:24
I obviously chose to save the Ark ! Good lord we spent years and years to build that thing ! COULD WE AT LEAST TRY TO SAVE IT !
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:24
Escape the ark, I like being evil.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:25
I escaped the Ark! I knew there had to be more out there, and I wanted to see it. Plus, the Resistance had some sick looking outfits and weapon skins. So I picked up my Rhett and went to work escaping the Ark. Such an under appreciated game. Definitely one of the best FPS games for this generation of consoles. Thank you Splash Damage and Bethesda!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:25
I chose to escape the ark. It sounded like the more logical thing to do.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:25
I choose to escape the ARK because of how awesome the resistance looks.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:26
I went for save the Ark it was a beautiful place why not save it? If brink 2 does come out I know the ark will still be there and look more badass than ever! By the way I have a brink poster up and that one would just be epic on my wall! FOR Thee ARK!!!!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:26
I chose to save the Ark. My family has a history in law enforcement, with most of them serving in some capacity within the US Secret Service, or the BATFE. It just seemed more personal to join the Security forces rather than the Resistance. Clinton Mokoena is also the incident commander that I would want to serve under; his personal connection to his men, along with his unwillingness to appease an increasingly belligerent force is what made me respect him despite the fact that he was a fictional character. However, I must say that under the leadership of Joseph Chen, the Resistance has legitimate grounds to leave the Ark if they wished. However, this movement would naturally bring many radicals under his banner. Security has its bullies too, but let's face it. No one in the Security forces was willing to irreversibly irradiate the Ark.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:26
I decided to escape the Ark to start. The resistance looked way too cool to pass up! I went and save the Ark eventually, and had just as much fun!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:26
I choosed to escape the ark, because i donīt like the way the security is working. also am i a fan of things like this.f*** the system  also was brink the first shooter i played. its just awesome
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:27
Save the Ark. You know, cuz it's cool and stuff.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:27
I choosed to escape the ark just because the equip looks better :D btw: I preordered brink on febuary 2011 via steam and it came out the day before my birthday so i could download it and started brink at my birthday ! I was reeally happy about that :D
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:27
I chose to Save the Ark because the Security guys looked way cooler than the Resistance.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:27
I went with Escaping the Ark. Its great that there is a city in the middle of the ocean that people are just living they're lives. But what about outside of the Ark? Its not a real adventure until you stop playing in your own back yard
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:27
I chose to defend the ark first because, well, I guess it made more sense to first defend the ark, get to know it and the game before i went and try to escape / destroy it. but lets be honest, its a game, multiplayer even... i did not waste much time playing against bots just so the maps line up perfectly when there are thousands of players out there just waiting to help or stop me. so in the end, i played none and both at the same time. in time all maps were played on both sides, all won and lost. and yes, it was a nice enough story. but i did not buy the game for the story, i bought it for the fun to be had in multiplayer mode...
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:27
I went with Escape, because the Fallout skins looked cooler.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:28
Escape the Ark! Coz this is the thing i would love to do once in my life
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:28
Escape the Ark!!!!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:29
I chose to Escape the Ark. In any society, there always must be a group of individuals to fight it, and that is what makes a society whole. I loved Brink, and besides getting four characters to level 21, I also got every achievement in four days. I'm an avid collector of game items, and Brink has been on my top shelf ever since I played it. The mural is beautiful, and I would keep it mint and cherished forever. As a true fan, please pick me!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:30
My first play through was with the goal of escaping the Ark. I did this for three reasons: 1) being from Wisconsin, at the time my state was filled with (justified) discontent with our Governor, Scott Walker, so I seemed to relate to the guerillas 2) I liked the outfit options better 3) my roommate said he was going to play as the security force, and I couldn't pass up that easy of a setup to argue :)
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:30
When prompted with the decision of which ideology to choose. I sided with Saving the Ark, because the Ark is my home, and the idea of outsiders coming to where my family lives and potentially causing havoc and harming them made my decision easy. I feel for the Guests and their plight, but if they worked with us, we all could make the Ark a better place.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:30
'Save the Ark'... I digged the gimp suits
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:31
With 5 other mates, we all united in Saving The Ark...then later we escaped XD Before launch, we all told each other what side we had aligned ourselves with. 4 sided with Security and 2 standing formly for the Resistance. With some light persuasion, briding them with junk food, they finally argeed to do the Save The Ark playthrough first =]
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:31
I chose to save the Ark, since I'm more of a 'keep the peace' kind of guy than a 'overthrow tyranny' guy.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:31
I did destroy the Ark because i thought everyone on the ark should have the same rights :D Happy Birthday Brink! I guess im gonna play it now xD :stroggbanana:
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:31
Save the Ark. But don't open it otherwise melty melty. To be honest I had no real preference as I expected to play multiplayer on either side. Picking sides would have been better if there was an actual single player linear story based campaign from both perspectives which were predominantly different in play. Anyway, would love some SD memorabilia.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:31
Escape the ark, I like being evil.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:32
I picked "Escape the Ark" because I didn't think that it could be saved with the amount of chaos going on.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:32
I chose escape the ark because I liked the idea of a rebellion more than enforcement more. Why play games if you can't do what you can't do in real life?
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:32
I chose to escape the Ark, 'cause I always side with the rebels, be they the good or the bad guys. I just love me some chaotic ragtag and bobtail more than a flock of uniformed sheep.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:32
I chose to escape the Ark because those that try to be heroes get killed. Why did I not think it was worth risking my life to save the Ark you ask? Because the Ark is like a stray cat, cool to look at for a little while but then it starts to smell.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:33
Save the Ark Liked the security look over the resistance, a nice uniform will always win over potato sacks on heads :D ... and I would totally buy some Brink prints if you ever got around to doing some.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:35
Escape the Ark, because those guys design is so badass !
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:35
Whoop! Happy Birthday Brink! :infiltrator:
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:35
I chose to save the ark Why? Because in a world spiralling into chaos with riots, recessions and people striving for more its good to know theirs at least one world you can save and have a whole lot of fun in then process!! Russ Brink faithful and proud
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:36
I chose to save the ark after I got it at launch day. I prefer to keep control and I had noticed in the intro, The task force was trying to maintain order and were merciful enough to allow other people to come into the ark. The stragglers rebelled even though they themselves were the cause of it. So I went to save the ark! When I unlocked all the audio files I learned that my choice was well thought out but then I notice that the Security's higher ups were a bit corrupt themselves. Both sides could have found a common ground but both leading characters were so busy with their own vendetta that now both of them have become blinded from their paths. I regret trading this game in but if I ever get enough people to play it with me on the 360, I would buy it again in a heartbeat!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:37
When I first played through, I chose to escape the ark. It seemed like it would be more fun trying to do rebellious escape missions rather than civil defense missions, but it turns out they were both equally awesome, challenging, and engaging. I felt that the bond between the characters in the Resistance in the escape missions were stronger than the bonds between the security members though, and it felt more engaging to be with a group of people in a tight bond working together.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:37
Saved the Ark without a seconds thought. No thought needed just get out and crush the rebellious tools that think their uprising is justified.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:37
Escape the Ark of course!!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:37
I picked it up at midnight from GameStop and I first chose to Save the Ark. Why did I chose this? I could give some long, thought out, in-depth, and way over complicated reason behind the hidden meanings of The Ark and Right and Wrong and what not, but the truth is it's the first one I clicked on. I knew I would be playing the game through many times and I was going to get the whole story so it was simply my starting point and a year later I'm still playing.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:38
I chose to escape the ark. Resistance just had an appeal to me. As a traceur in real life I fell in love with the look of the Resistance flowing across the environment.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:39
I chose to Escape the Ark. If they cannot help us care for our own and solve the problems presented, we must forge our own way in what is left of the world. Remaining on the Ark would only mean fighting over a few inches of land, back and forth, again and again, year after year. Would it not be better to leave and risk everything for the chance to rise anew?
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:39
Escape the Ark! When I saw the first motion trailer of Brink I and a lot of others fell in love with the 'The Anger' outfit. My character needed to be like that one! But when I started playing and customizing characters in Brink, there were so many awesome possibilities. At the end 'The Anger' wasn't my first choice anymore and this proves how much fun it was to create character after character. And who doesn't want to play and rebel as a bad ass character with a hockey mask and a shotgun? (hopefully adding a pic of my character works. And I'm new to this forum because the Bethesda Brink forum was more active)
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:41
Love the game wish there was a second installment.:D
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:41
I chose to save the Ark, I love the enforcement customization options and the more personal background it seemed like the enforecement officers had.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:41
I choose to save the Ark, because I hate hippies (even with weapons).
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:42
Save the Ark: Because movement speed was way too sluggish and the S.M.A.R.T system way too broken to escape from it.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:43
Escape The Ark, When I first saw the trailer for this game at E3 I knew what my role would be from then. Once the game had been released I suited up and helped my brothers escape certain death. Following through the story I released how the founders hid the coming atrocities and wanted only self preservation. I fought many hours on the ark and always enjoyed every bit of it. Hopefully I can be the one selected for this Mural.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:43
Both! I switched back and forth between characters. I think I created the resistance character first though.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:45
On my first playthrough of the amazing brink storyline i chose to escape the ark i chose to escape the ark because being rebelious and saying a big fat NO to authority was more appealing to me ! I idolize the great minds that produced and helped design this magical game ! good job guys , i would love to see a brink two or even some dlc.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:46
I chose to escape the ark.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:46
Escape the Ark? Who would want to leave container city?!! I love the art style =))
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:46
I chose to save the ark because I'm one to support the underdog. The rebels seemed to have the numbers in support as the game was being advertised and released and I just couldn't let that happen That nice sleek look that comes with being a member of Security is just a very nice bonus. Happy birthday Brink! You're still one of my favorite and most played games.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:47
Resistance all the way! :infiltrator:
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:47
On my first playthrough i chose "Save the Ark" as i did with all my 4 characters. I always try to fight on the security side, unless teams gets unbalanced and i'm forced to swicth :/ The reason, well... first of all i love their style, even though the resistance felt more unique the securiry was more to my liking, they just look badass. I also felt that they had every right to fight for the Ark, it was their creation, their dream; and the only reason they got caught in this situation was for trying to help and let in more ppl than they should've.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:50
I chose to escape, purely on the fact that the resistance looks infinitely more badass, i went on to escape the ark multiple times, however every time i did, i ended up back on the ark, trying to get away again, was a very confusing time in my life to be honest. Eventually i gave up and switched sides to the security, who had obviously also realised that every time you try to escape the ark, it goes to a loading screen then you end up straight back on it again. Thought id be able to persuade the resistance that some evil paradox was the enemy here not me, and that we should just sit back and live in peace on the ark till we figure out a way to avoid the teleporting loading screen. Didnt work. Still sat on the ark. Running out of water.....died multiple times.....i go towards the light....then i see a countdown, which i pressume is the last few moments of my life.....but then i just get teleported back, alive and well back on the ark. To be honest....iv started abusing this, the other day i tripped and hurt my knee, instead of taking 2 weeks rest, and hobble around for a while, i just took out the pins of my grenades and started juggling. Much quicker. To be honest, im starting to see the positive side. These days i just chill out on the ark, looking out at the sea......the main issue im having is that if i lie too close to a conflict zone, people start throwing syringes at me...i have told them multiple times, im not interested, thats not my style. Once a guy went a step further and jammed one in my chest?!?! Needless to say, he has been enjoying molotovs through his window ever since.
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:50
i picked save the ark first but then because it was to hard picked escape the ark FTW!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:50
Escape the Ark: Not because rebellion seemed fun or "cool" but because it seemed like a story-line I could get into. Rebels quite often have mis-matched equipment and insufficient supplies and so it could be fun to play through!
Posted on 10 May, 2012 - 18:53
I chose the Resistance the customization in Brink is beyond belief as soon as i saw the trailer i knew i had to get this game amazing. finishing the story was awesome and then i went on to use the security who were equally amazing. i have to say the developers of brink have created such a success its just beautiful i love it <3
