Btw, when you share some more details? By first look, I can say that game looks like Brink, but in modern era + name "Dirty Bomb" and very big explosions in trailer makes sense that its goin to be close to CS game style...
I hope there will be a lot open and close places per map, vechiles, asymmetric teams,(like it was in etqw) aaaaaaaand pretty nice netcode :)
Whatever, good like guyz!!!

1 or 2 year ready to play ? Better maps ? Gunplay ? Objectives attack biased ? Usefull secondary objectives ? Tricks jumps ? Artillery ? SMART ? Numbers of players ? Competitive side ? Spectator mode ? Record mode ? Tweakable CFG ? Crosshair modification ? Crosshair pulsing off ?
Got some more questions ! but without answer to all this things I'm still waiting after the BRINK fail !

Female characters made it into the SD shooter - good thing, but why engineer not(?) medic? I guess the pack of round-shaped things stands for mines... not round medpacks... Anyway - how that works? Can we have a thinner version of every class? Or only some of them will be girls constantly?(I prefer the second btw)
No "Brink" in "creators" part - way to go! :) I feel really good about new title seeing "Enemy Territory" and "ET:QW" as the references.
Auto-Sniper ET-like weapon - I like it, although I hope to see also the single-shot automatic rifle with ability to instantly kill with a headshot up to some "long" range distance. ETQW approach was cool in that matter, you could feel practically "out of enemy range" in the open field, which adds good balance without closing the space with additional buildings or sth.
Advertisements? Yes? Well, we hope you will not fall after that release, so exceptionally ok... Although why don't you give us an option to get rid of the ads at some price?
Flame thrower? That back-pack of the CT dead guy?
Have nothing to add so far... Need more info on the game.
Final result - I stopped eating my breakfast, which means "so far, so good" ;-).
PS:
Are you sure? ;-)

aye, gotta laff at the 'looks like brink' so must be 'brink2'...
just glad to see it's another fps and not some announcement for a phone app. Hopefully the main lessons from brink, ETQW and W:ET have been learned and that it remains a class based, team objective game at heart with competitive maps that range in size and location with a relatively high skill ceiling. Basically make the MP as RTCW2 (i'm consciously ignoring that disgrace that was Endrant's Wolfenstein 2009 mp).

Looks interesting, but not too overwhelming. The graphics style is looking good i think. The level structure (for what can be seen on the trailer (i assume some shots where already levels in construction)) looks again a bit tiny. Correct me if i am wrong: but levels in Brink where also mainly small and limited (mainly because they had to be structured like this i guess). What i want to say is: will it beat Planetside 2 ? :) Especially regarding the openness of the levels. Forgelight engine ? => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgelight_Engine

If this is yet ANOTHER F2P game banking on some spiritual succession of previous PC games, I'll be disappointed. TF2 is F2P and yet it has both modtools and LAN support, which this likely wouldn't if it was the case.

And Mithrot, this new game, Dirty Bomb, will HAVE Dedicated Servers and stuff... With or without mod tools it will rock anyway... And every FPS F2P you saw in the web, they DONT HAVE mod tools... TF2 it's another talk about this stuff, since it was a B2P.

Well, but to me this is the future. It is just impressive technology. Considering you have more freedom on creating your levels (more openness, you do not have to seal them into bsp-nodes for rendering and therefore be limited), which would automatically make them bigger. DirtyBomb might just be max 64 players again, but why limit yourself. Why try to create a comp game anyway. So much restrictions, and in the end you will get just the same. But let's see. We have seen way too little to make too much judgements, but it looks about brink to me. I think forgelight engine is at least worth a look. Guys at SD probably have chosen Unreal-Engine for future games. Which is similar to idtech, which in turn means small levels, no ? I could be all wrong on this. I am way too far away in knowledge to be specialist in engines. But i know some stuff here and there about old idtech games. Just trying to give feedback to SD about what i think the future of FPS is heading to for me. Again, just personal opinion.

Given that open world MMOs have been built using UE3, it's safe to say that it's an incredibly flexible engine that can indeed facilitate large environments. With that said; bigger is not always better, it depends entirely on the game. I have thoroughly enjoyed BF and ET games on one end of the spectrum, and CS/CoD on the other. PS2 has simply failed to provide any moments that were truly epic. It just lacks that spark. Sure it's a good game, and a tremendous technical feat, but it's not in the running for my top 3 PC FPS titles of the year. Creating a good MP game is all about capturing and delivering those epic moments, whether the environments are large or little is not really of much concern to me, I'm simply looking for epic gameplay :).
Given SD's history, I can't wait to find out more about this game and get my grubby little mitts on it. I'm quite hopeful that the studio will be able to introduce that "epic factor" to the title.

Why not compare the success of TF2, probably the most popular F2P game, to one that is likely to be F2P as well? I'm not comparing the gameplay here, just the way the game is structured to be open-ended for creators.
Battlefield.
I would appreciate it if you offered a source where you know that this upcoming game will feature Dedicated servers. Even then, there is a good chance they wouldn't be player-hosted, which would hurt any chance of there being a competitive scene for clans to practice on or having pub games where admins can monitor matches.
If you say the game will rock regardless of modtools, we'll have to see first, but outright ignoring them is a mistake. Have you never played Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory beyond vanilla? There were custom maps like Base Race brought in fresh ideas that even today's shooters lack, they even made up a large part of the community such as Jaymod/ETPro.

While I agree that public dedicated server files with spectator and recording/demo/password functionality are nice, there are plenty of F2P shooters that use centralized server architecture and have thriving competitive gaming scenes. In these titles, players often have the ability to set up and password protect their own "rooms" (effectively setting up their own private servers). If you look at the Asian gaming scene, you'll see that plenty of F2P shooters run their own tournaments there, or run them in cooperation with their own gaming leagues (similar to ESL/Clanbase).
Not only are they providing similar features to what we're used to, they've got a far superior telemetry system on top of that, making it easier to review key match info after the fact.
Heck, even the European ESL supports plenty of F2P titles (the majority of which use centralised servers systems).
http://www.esl.eu/eu/freegames/
It wasn't long ago that I too felt that centralised servers= fail, but networking technology continues to improve, latency continues to drop, and F2P devs continue to improve the options that they provide their paying customers.
All in all, the reasons to slam F2P are becoming fewer and farther between.
/A former competitive gaming administrator.
*EDIT:
Granted I'm not saying that any of the F2P FPS' are as big as the likes of CS, but then again nothing really is.

I would still put my money on ET being one of the most popular of the F2P FPS, far beyond that of TF2. 10 years later and still has an incredible amount of loyal supporters that play on a daily basis.
Uh, did you really just say that ET was just like Battlefield?
He is probably going by past experience given SD's other titles. I would be perfectly happy with that, I would rather play on a server that isn't hosted off some random persons **** computer/connection and instead is hosted through a third party company, like QW and ETQW have done. The only that I think you would have to worry about the neglect of competition and custom content is if they run RANKED servers like they did with Quake Wars, which I hope they learned from QW and decide to bypass the whole ranked/unranked situation all together.

The UE logo appears at the end, not to mention that SD have mentioned in the past that they'll be using it.
With that said, you do bring up a good point regarding F2P, and it's one that I've seen a couple of journos mention today. Although SD have been making a lot of noise about F2P and have said that future titles will use it, there has been no mention here. It'll be interesting so see what they have to say about monetisation at some stage in the future.

It's inferred from the fact that WarChest publish F2P games:
"We're a brand-new publisher of downloadable games with production values you might expect from games you would normally buy in shops. By bringing our titles directly to you, we're saving a whole bunch of money that we're investing into our games instead.
Better yet, they're free to download and play!"

I like the class functions in Brink. I'd suggest that they keep those the same, but get rid of S.M.A.R.T. and that stupid mission wheel or whatever it was called. It'd also be nice if they'd use a different engine from what they used in Brink. They need to ensure that the game physics are running at higher frame rates, rather than just being capped at 30 fps, because it just feels weird having the physics capped at a lower frame rate than what the graphics are rendering at.
I'm glad that this is gonna be F2P, because that's about the only way I'd try it after the train wreck that was Brink.

Some things I’v noticed –
1) There is a class with a giant bag on his back and a light machine gun – heavy bodytype (I wonder how the hitbox model for this guy work)
2) Smallest Bodytype is a sniper (Girl sniper hitboxes? Small? We see only a male sniper)
3) One of the factions in game is CDA “Lies get you nowhere” - printed on the wall, its a police faction
4) Female engineer with 2 mines on hips and a shotgun and...2 combat axes near her ass
5) The final explosion was made by tank or ...camo IAV (escort mission)
6) The guy at the begining of the video is probably a field ops with ammo packs
7) There is a 2 dead masked male soldiers, u can see them just after girl eng (medics?)

Also, just because he has his xbox live username in his signature doesn't mean he doesn't play from a PC as well. I personally play PS3 and PC myself, some games you just can't get on the PC.

For two simple reasons:
1. I'm an assumed idSoftware fanboy
2. Apart being a gamer, I'm also a developer and so so I can't play a game without tech coming to mind
Anyway, I like Epic engines too, it's just that there's no more studios now working on idTech apart id, and it's sad for old-school loving techy whores like me :(
