So the game takes place in London.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:41
It's gonna be HOT :)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:42
It looks great! Good to see you try out this era, you have done the past and future so good to see you have a shot at the present.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:43
Looks like brink, hope map design is better for competitive play.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:43
Yay, it's PC exclusive!!!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:43
Was about to say, it looks like a prequel to Brink! Which is awesome.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:45
Looks like brink
What I was thinking
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:45
Heheh, yeah the "Made for PC" tag at the end was a nice little touch. The teaser has matched my expectations, I'm looking forward to finding out more about the game!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:46
Bromley is on that one sign! :) It looks interesting for sure! and lots of explosionz ! :stroggbanana:
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:47
Nice video! But not enough 1st person action
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:48
Hummmmm ... Still waiting to see more ! By the creator of "Wolf ET & ETQW" Brink note "quoted" ! playable in 1 year ?
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:49
This is exactly Brink 2 with changed name. I have played Brink maybe around two times and I don't like the game, so I don't expect nothing new.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:50
Now the question is HOW SOON. TBH looks like BRINK, BRINK was not bad, just hope u won't dumb down the damn game.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:50
Yea they didn't quote Brink. But the game reminds me more of Brink than W:ET or ET:QW. I guess it will have SMART as well.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:51
I noticed a lack of tapirs in this trailer
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:51
Interesting, what sides will be in game? Terrorists and police, or what?
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:51
very intersting
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:52
Btw, when you share some more details? By first look, I can say that game looks like Brink, but in modern era + name "Dirty Bomb" and very big explosions in trailer makes sense that its goin to be close to CS game style... I hope there will be a lot open and close places per map, vechiles, asymmetric teams,(like it was in etqw) aaaaaaaand pretty nice netcode :) Whatever, good like guyz!!!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:54
I don't wanna sound mean or smth. I really looking forward to this game, but tbh it wasn't like WOW AWESOME, it looked like DLC for BRINK trailer. But i would take BRINK any time instead of all those BF3/COD/CS...
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:55
Interesting indeed! Couple of things I noticed:

Looks like it's set in the near-future
Female models!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:55
3-5 months then it's ready to play. It's basically Brink but then multiplayer only with (I hope) better maps and of course customization to get some $.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 11:57
Female models remindes me Q3 times :)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:01
1 or 2 year ready to play ? Better maps ? Gunplay ? Objectives attack biased ? Usefull secondary objectives ? Tricks jumps ? Artillery ? SMART ? Numbers of players ? Competitive side ? Spectator mode ? Record mode ? Tweakable CFG ? Crosshair modification ? Crosshair pulsing off ? Got some more questions ! but without answer to all this things I'm still waiting after the BRINK fail !
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:03
http://postimage.org/image/7h4stqikr/full/ Please splashdamage, give us the possibility to look around when you place a bomb.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:05
Looking good. :stroggtapir:
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:07
Is this bomb planting or bomb diffusing? Looks like engineer trying to diffuse it? As i said already it looks good, just plox make those classes like in ET/ET:QW not in BRINK, syringe stuff sucked, no ammo on land sucked too, etc. DO NOT DUMB DOWN the game and we have a winner :stroggbanana:
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:08
as long as they have made improvements with the AI ill be happy
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:08
AI? LOL i forgot, please remove BOTS from online game. BOTS only if u wanna practice alone, but not online with real people.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:11
Of course it looks like brink, that is just their design style now. This doesn't mean that it is brink 2. CS:GO also looks like Left4Dead ...
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:12
Looks good guys! Nothing more to say about it until I've seen some info on actual gameplay, but I'm happy it's a fps!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:15
No surprises that the artwork is similar to that of Brink. Looks much better, though! And I'd like to assume that because SMART wasn't shown in the teaser then it won't feature in the game, was a bit gimmicky in Brink! Can't wait to see more of this game! GET HYPE!!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:26
Interesting. :)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:29
Yay FPS Yay based in England Yay for PC Yay for females I am so ready for this game! Putting in an early request, can we have some merch e-shop this time please, t-shirts, mousemats, etc.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:33
Can't wait . I want to see more! =)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:33
Female characters made it into the SD shooter - good thing, but why engineer not(?) medic? I guess the pack of round-shaped things stands for mines... not round medpacks... Anyway - how that works? Can we have a thinner version of every class? Or only some of them will be girls constantly?(I prefer the second btw) No "Brink" in "creators" part - way to go! :) I feel really good about new title seeing "Enemy Territory" and "ET:QW" as the references. Auto-Sniper ET-like weapon - I like it, although I hope to see also the single-shot automatic rifle with ability to instantly kill with a headshot up to some "long" range distance. ETQW approach was cool in that matter, you could feel practically "out of enemy range" in the open field, which adds good balance without closing the space with additional buildings or sth. Advertisements? Yes? Well, we hope you will not fall after that release, so exceptionally ok... Although why don't you give us an option to get rid of the ads at some price? Flame thrower? That back-pack of the CT dead guy? Have nothing to add so far... Need more info on the game. Final result - I stopped eating my breakfast, which means "so far, so good" ;-). PS:
I noticed a lack of tapirs in this trailer
Are you sure? ;-)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:34
I would like to see magic phrase "Coming for christmas!" :D
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:34
Holy crap !!! The trailer it's awesome !!! Enemy Territory game style in a Futuristic London, with the art / graphics style of Brink :O And " MADE FOR PC " - hell yeah !!!! ps: you can also reserve ur nickname... if i'm registered on Warchest i dont need to reserve it right? I will keep this name i've got also in the forum here ?
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:35
aye, gotta laff at the 'looks like brink' so must be 'brink2'... just glad to see it's another fps and not some announcement for a phone app. Hopefully the main lessons from brink, ETQW and W:ET have been learned and that it remains a class based, team objective game at heart with competitive maps that range in size and location with a relatively high skill ceiling. Basically make the MP as RTCW2 (i'm consciously ignoring that disgrace that was Endrant's Wolfenstein 2009 mp).
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:36
Well, I hope SD make this game with accounting of last fails, so I can wait years, or three, just make It cool.
ps: you can also reserve ur nickname... if i'm registered on Warchest i dont need to reserve it right? I will keep this name i've got also in the forum here ?

Years or three? Lol, i could be dead by that time :( You know Crytek's warface beta is coming and plus there are few other free fps shooters out there so i hope SD will release DirtyBomb very soon.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:38
ps: you can also reserve ur nickname... if i'm registered on Warchest i dont need to reserve it right? I will keep this name i've got also in the forum here ?
That is entirely correct. Your forum nickname == warchest ID == Dirty Bomb username.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:40
Hehe, I was waiting Quake 4, Diablo 3, now Doom 4 (which was announced in 2008, still no info exept leaked screens and music), so yeah, year or 3 isnt too much :)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:41
Well, i wanna play good FPS right now. SP games do not attract me anymore. Plus I don't like bf/cod/cs and brink is dead, qw is almost dead (maybe i should re-install it). Waiting year or three? No freaking way :(
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:44
With a name like Dirty Bomb and based in London I can only assume it's going to be Terrorists vs Security.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:46
Cant wait :) but now we need more info ahaha
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:46

perfect ! thanks ;) and now.... give us more info !
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 12:51
Is it too soon for any questions to get answered ??? :) Cause since I've seen the huge dude almost at the end of the teaser I was wondering if you are doing the multiple body size thingy again ?
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 13:07
Looks interesting, but not too overwhelming. The graphics style is looking good i think. The level structure (for what can be seen on the trailer (i assume some shots where already levels in construction)) looks again a bit tiny. Correct me if i am wrong: but levels in Brink where also mainly small and limited (mainly because they had to be structured like this i guess). What i want to say is: will it beat Planetside 2 ? :) Especially regarding the openness of the levels. Forgelight engine ? => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgelight_Engine
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 13:23
I've noticed that one of the teams will likely be called the CDA. And Banksy works for them!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 13:30
Dear, Splash Damage. I will tell you one important thing: Stay in touch with the community ! :) I will be happy to see the freedom of movement :) Sincerely, Ivelin "h4ckY" Georgiev
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 13:33
well, learning from last time, I will wait a bit after release and see... :D
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 13:33
just reserved my nick from w:et, etqw and brink for dirty bomb. yay so excited right now
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 13:34
If this is yet ANOTHER F2P game banking on some spiritual succession of previous PC games, I'll be disappointed. TF2 is F2P and yet it has both modtools and LAN support, which this likely wouldn't if it was the case.

Don't bring this TF2 nonsense. TF2(complete crap IMO) is nothing compared to ET/ET:QW/BRINK.

Beat PlanetSide 2 on what acQu? And did you just asked if Dirty Bomb (a game that looks like it host matches of 4v4/12v12) is using a Sony MMO (2000v2000v2000) engine? Silly you..

quote ET , ET:QW and Brink genre are simply UNIQUE... other FPS cannot be compared to them... And Mithrot, this new game, Dirty Bomb, will HAVE Dedicated Servers and stuff... With or without mod tools it will rock anyway... And every FPS F2P you saw in the web, they DONT HAVE mod tools... TF2 it's another talk about this stuff, since it was a B2P.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 13:58
Well, talking about mods. Ask anyone, who tried to play vanilla ET and they will tell you, that downloading all that ****ty music, sounds, logos etc. really piss people off. Yes there are few good maps and mods for ET, but i would prefer custom good maps only.

Well, but to me this is the future. It is just impressive technology. Considering you have more freedom on creating your levels (more openness, you do not have to seal them into bsp-nodes for rendering and therefore be limited), which would automatically make them bigger. DirtyBomb might just be max 64 players again, but why limit yourself. Why try to create a comp game anyway. So much restrictions, and in the end you will get just the same. But let's see. We have seen way too little to make too much judgements, but it looks about brink to me. I think forgelight engine is at least worth a look. Guys at SD probably have chosen Unreal-Engine for future games. Which is similar to idtech, which in turn means small levels, no ? I could be all wrong on this. I am way too far away in knowledge to be specialist in engines. But i know some stuff here and there about old idtech games. Just trying to give feedback to SD about what i think the future of FPS is heading to for me. Again, just personal opinion.

Because people want it and that's why we are here at SplashDamage dot com.

Given that open world MMOs have been built using UE3, it's safe to say that it's an incredibly flexible engine that can indeed facilitate large environments. With that said; bigger is not always better, it depends entirely on the game. I have thoroughly enjoyed BF and ET games on one end of the spectrum, and CS/CoD on the other. PS2 has simply failed to provide any moments that were truly epic. It just lacks that spark. Sure it's a good game, and a tremendous technical feat, but it's not in the running for my top 3 PC FPS titles of the year. Creating a good MP game is all about capturing and delivering those epic moments, whether the environments are large or little is not really of much concern to me, I'm simply looking for epic gameplay :). Given SD's history, I can't wait to find out more about this game and get my grubby little mitts on it. I'm quite hopeful that the studio will be able to introduce that "epic factor" to the title.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 14:43
Looks good to me. I am just hoping they release the SDK for this sooner than they did for ETQW. Also looking forward to see if Chris is planning on making any maps for the game :)

Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:05
Just can't wait for what could be the next "bomb" in the genre. Need gameplay footage.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:11
Visual is impressive, looks very real, maybe with some dust in the air it would look like a foto. Curious about the game itself, DB will be a glory it seems.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:25
Ooooh man, so dirty! (sorry, had to)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:30
Anyone else notice that the font style of the letter M in DirtyBomb is similar to the letter M in the font of wolfenstein et and rtcw? with its deliberate knife edge drop below the line. Maybe they are hinting at something...:)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:30
Looks good, only hope they kept the Enemy Territory classes, gunplay, movement, ...

I would appreciate it if you offered a source where you know that this upcoming game will feature Dedicated servers. Even then, there is a good chance they wouldn't be player-hosted, which would hurt any chance of there being a competitive scene for clans to practice on or having pub games where admins can monitor matches. If you say the game will rock regardless of modtools, we'll have to see first, but outright ignoring them is a mistake. Have you never played Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory beyond vanilla? There were custom maps like Base Race brought in fresh ideas that even today's shooters lack, they even made up a large part of the community such as Jaymod/ETPro.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:32
Trailer is awesome, I like that style from Brink IMO that the best art style in FPS and maybe in all game ever . I only beg you for that movement system (SMART) in Dirty Bomb. Brink for me was the best MP FPS and my is Brink art and movement style in Dirty Bomb. Bless
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:33
You broke my heart with Brink SD. This is your last chance. If this is another slow as molasses shooter with nerfed pea shooter guns and a low skill ceiling we are finished. We are going to break up. Don't even bother drunk texting me for a booty call.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:45
Looks cool, everyone! I see a lot of brink visual style crossing over, but I'm guessing it's a fresh start on the code base?
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:45
goodbye id Tech 4 engine
I'm sad about this too... :( Also I'd rather if this game wasn't free, but hayho.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 15:59
Unreal engine pretty nice, dont be so sad :)

While I agree that public dedicated server files with spectator and recording/demo/password functionality are nice, there are plenty of F2P shooters that use centralized server architecture and have thriving competitive gaming scenes. In these titles, players often have the ability to set up and password protect their own "rooms" (effectively setting up their own private servers). If you look at the Asian gaming scene, you'll see that plenty of F2P shooters run their own tournaments there, or run them in cooperation with their own gaming leagues (similar to ESL/Clanbase). Not only are they providing similar features to what we're used to, they've got a far superior telemetry system on top of that, making it easier to review key match info after the fact. Heck, even the European ESL supports plenty of F2P titles (the majority of which use centralised servers systems). http://www.esl.eu/eu/freegames/ It wasn't long ago that I too felt that centralised servers= fail, but networking technology continues to improve, latency continues to drop, and F2P devs continue to improve the options that they provide their paying customers. All in all, the reasons to slam F2P are becoming fewer and farther between. /A former competitive gaming administrator. *EDIT: Granted I'm not saying that any of the F2P FPS' are as big as the likes of CS, but then again nothing really is.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 16:34
I seem to have missed something, where does it say it's f2p and UE?
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 16:36

I would still put my money on ET being one of the most popular of the F2P FPS, far beyond that of TF2. 10 years later and still has an incredible amount of loyal supporters that play on a daily basis.
Battlefield.
Uh, did you really just say that ET was just like Battlefield?
I would appreciate it if you offered a source where you know that this upcoming game will feature Dedicated servers. He is probably going by past experience given SD's other titles. I would be perfectly happy with that, I would rather play on a server that isn't hosted off some random persons **** computer/connection and instead is hosted through a third party company, like QW and ETQW have done. The only that I think you would have to worry about the neglect of competition and custom content is if they run RANKED servers like they did with Quake Wars, which I hope they learned from QW and decide to bypass the whole ranked/unranked situation all together.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 16:36
I seem to have missed something, where does it say it's f2p and UE?
The UE logo appears at the end, not to mention that SD have mentioned in the past that they'll be using it. With that said, you do bring up a good point regarding F2P, and it's one that I've seen a couple of journos mention today. Although SD have been making a lot of noise about F2P and have said that future titles will use it, there has been no mention here. It'll be interesting so see what they have to say about monetisation at some stage in the future.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 16:40
ET , ET:QW and Brink genre are simply UNIQUE... other FPS cannot be compared to them...
RTCW > ET > Brink > ETQW There you see what I did, introduced the fact that they arent unique. All three are derivatives of the RTCW, and none compare favourably to it. :-)
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 16:47
It's inferred from the fact that WarChest publish F2P games: "We're a brand-new publisher of downloadable games with production values you might expect from games you would normally buy in shops. By bringing our titles directly to you, we're saving a whole bunch of money that we're investing into our games instead. Better yet, they're free to download and play!"

Not sure if you're listing in order by your preference, or chronological, but if chronological, QW should go before Brink :)

Absolutely excited for this! More details the; the sooner the better!!
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 17:32
I'm I the only one being not really that much surprised or anything ? This teaser didn't honestly made my hearts goes *boom*, anyway it's far too early to get a real opinion :( Too bad for idTech, Brink was real cool to me...
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 17:38
It has that similar Brink art style going I saw, nice. :) Just hope the tools are in place for the competitive scene like Demo, spectate, etc.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 17:47
Sebultura why as customer u would care about engine being used? Idtech4 wasn't the best engine anyways. And BRINK while looked cool died almost instantly and ET/ET:QW still being played after all these years.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 17:50
I like the class functions in Brink. I'd suggest that they keep those the same, but get rid of S.M.A.R.T. and that stupid mission wheel or whatever it was called. It'd also be nice if they'd use a different engine from what they used in Brink. They need to ensure that the game physics are running at higher frame rates, rather than just being capped at 30 fps, because it just feels weird having the physics capped at a lower frame rate than what the graphics are rendering at. I'm glad that this is gonna be F2P, because that's about the only way I'd try it after the train wreck that was Brink.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 17:52
S.M.A.R.T. wasn't that bad compared to magic F key, syringe, buffs and autolocking on target... kevinski u could always remove the cap but Wii Xbox Live in your signature tells me a lot about u. This game is MADE FOR PC.
Posted on 29 November, 2012 - 17:55
What do you think of the teaser trailer for Dirty Bomb? What secrets lurk within? :)
Some things I’v noticed – 1) There is a class with a giant bag on his back and a light machine gun – heavy bodytype (I wonder how the hitbox model for this guy work) 2) Smallest Bodytype is a sniper (Girl sniper hitboxes? Small? We see only a male sniper) 3) One of the factions in game is CDA “Lies get you nowhere” - printed on the wall, its a police faction 4) Female engineer with 2 mines on hips and a shotgun and...2 combat axes near her ass 5) The final explosion was made by tank or ...camo IAV (escort mission) 6) The guy at the begining of the video is probably a field ops with ammo packs 7) There is a 2 dead masked male soldiers, u can see them just after girl eng (medics?) 8) there is a strange emblem printed on walls and IAV , looks like reverse mitsubishi emblem (must be an emblem of a anti-rebel faction - CDA)

Let's not start the whole console versus pc flame wars again... Also, just because he has his xbox live username in his signature doesn't mean he doesn't play from a PC as well. I personally play PS3 and PC myself, some games you just can't get on the PC.

I dig it. It has a strong Brink look to it, but I'm hoping to see some innovation on the gameplay mechanics!

Sebultura why as customer u would care about engine being used? Idtech4 wasn't the best engine anyways. And BRINK while looked cool died almost instantly and ET/ET:QW still being played after all these years.
For two simple reasons: 1. I'm an assumed idSoftware fanboy 2. Apart being a gamer, I'm also a developer and so so I can't play a game without tech coming to mind Anyway, I like Epic engines too, it's just that there's no more studios now working on idTech apart id, and it's sad for old-school loving techy whores like me :(

I would still put my money on ET being one of the most popular of the F2P FPS...
